hey there, this is ZnatGD, aka mkmusic22musician, programmer (novice)

  • @Coopr8@kbin.earth @fediverse@lemmy.worldi agree, i dont blame you if i appear to look like that.tbh, looking back now, i sound like i was asking for too much yet not knowing so much. i did not know about Mbin, nor did i have a misskey client. I WAS LITERALLY BROWSING MISSKEY ON MY BROWSER FROM MY PHONE. Yeah, cant blame anyone but myself.

    ive found a hack: on misskey, lemmy communities show up as user accounts, so if i follow them, and add those accounts to a separate list from my feed, then i can check lemmy posts as well. Really great workaround. plus, im using Aria now, and Aria client is super fast, doesnt take up too much network.

    in the end, ive learnt that on the fediverse, there's always a workaround for everything. the only problem is: us

    the fedi isnt some magic Twitter alternative which just works! its a universe of interconnected software. when different software communicate with each other, its bound to have some inconveniences. but after 2 months of using misskey, mbin, mastodon, lemmy, even piefed, i find misskey more suitable for me. reactions, misskey flavoured markdown, quotes, etc. plus the workaround, misskey is pretty solid option for me. achievements boost motivation as well :ablobcatbongoultra: my brother, on the other hand, finds lemmy more suitable for him due to its reddit like approach, and my other brother finds mbin more suitable for him because it combined microblogging and post aggregation :ablobcatgooglytenor:

    in short, the fediverse isnt about the software we're using, but about the friends we made along the way :ablobcatangel:

    but yeah, still wish there was an option on misskey/mastodon to synchronize latest replies and reactions from another server, anyone has found a solution or even a client which temporarily does this fix and fetches the latest information like renotes, latest replies, latest reactions?

    What do you often find Punny?

  • @melroy@kbin.melroy.org I tried mbin (registered an account for my brother). The UI isnt that bad, UI is actually well-built, i think what scared me was the the different terminologies. On mbin, you have magazines instead of communities, and microblog instead of posts. But it's not that it's bad, youll get used to it.

    The disorganised yet connect nature of the fediverse is something we'll have to get used to. It's like how we all can appreciate different cultures from different countries around the world and be able to share and appreciate one another despite differences in culture. The real problem isnt with the Fediverse, it's with how culturally "bland" social media is now...

    Ive checked the repo too, but since ive just started with coding, i do not understand anything... :meicry: ill try my best to contribute however i can, really want to see mbin continue the legacy...

    @fediverse@lemmy.world...

  • @madjo@feddit.nl one thing about Indians is that:

    we will write something which probably makes sense to us but dont know what it means also, and we expect others will understand it too.What is written is written...@memes@lemmy.world

    You have a million dollar smile...

  • @irelephant@lemmy.dbzer0.com You can actually edit on Misskey. It's just the instance I'm on (great instance btw) doesn't allow edits to prevent messing up federation, etc...

    In the branch, it supports editing, but the editing function may cause problems in fedi propagation, such as the remote end does not update in real time or does not update. So this instance didn't start this function.

  • @3dcadmin@lemmy.relayeasy.com its 2025, and people still dont know how to use email?! And they are using the internet?!!! Its clearly not the fediverse's fault...

    My parents barely know how to use a computer, let alone use social media. And they STILL understand how email works! Our family grew up with email.

    I am very much worried about the future of the tech world, if this continues...Sorry to appear disrespectful to you, i truly understand what you're saying. But, i truly dont get people like them...

    @fediverse@lemmy.world

  • @Hikurnxi @fediverse@lemmy.world ah, i see... thanks for clarification...I could see why you didnt put it.This instance is actually really nice, has all the features i need... thanks @admin

  • @OpenStars@piefed.social @fediverse@lemmy.world if you told me this about 2 minutes ago, i probably wouldve disagreed with you. But, seeing yalls responses, i realise that im asking for a ginormous favour from all developers. Id just make my own software instead of complaining about all of the devs hard word to keep everything interconnected whilst not overwhelming the users with every feature under the sun.

    You have proved yourself to be right. The mere fact that every platform is interconnected means that we are actually... connected!

    Its not perfect, but thats not a reason for me to just take a back seat and watch and complain.

    Id really like to see this grow to become a great community. To make projects like this for the sheer fun and goodness of it, and not expecting money back. Now thats something to applaud for!

  • @gedaliyah@lemmy.world honestly, yall are amazing, ive learnt so much from you all. Ill just build my own platform instead of being lazy and complaining about it...

  • @rglullis@communick.news you are right. I am sorry if i may EXPECT certain things to just work, just recently shifted from Twitter (stopped using twitter in 2023, now on Misskey since 2025). To be honest, i was realy confused with what ActivityPub was in the first place.

    But i am glad i joined the fediverse. Today I Learnt more about the fediverse. A chaotic but really fun universe of interconnected planets.

    I realise that i am asking for everyone to adapt to my needs, and not that i adapt to the ecosystem.

    But now i try to learn... thank you for this informational conversation. It's still amazes me how platforms scripted in different languages are able to connect with each other.

    My post is invalidated. It's now retitled to " why we need to reform our way of thinking about social media."

    Still, that wont stop me from making a PeerTube+Lemmy+Misskey platform... :ablobcatangel:@fediverse@lemmy.world
