  • TIL that almost every year since 2015, Idaho children have died of treatable conditions. Their parents refuse medical care. It's legal in Idaho, the state just lets it happen.

  • Oh im not denying that by any means Idaho is kinda a shithole, even if I do like the surplus warehouse in Idaho Falls. Frankly speaking I want to pull that state more than Utah since in Utahs case it'd just be genocide, in Idahos case it'd probably be closer to a humanitarian mission if you wiped out the cults and helped the kids. Seriously Idaho is fucken infested with cults so bad that the Mormons look benign.

  • The sad thing is that as I understand it Idaho used to be that old school mind your own business libertarians, wherein they were kinda assholes but they had lines and standards. Sometime in the 70s/80s/90s when the whackjobs started getting pressure put on them in the other western states namely California all the fucked up weirdos more or less overran Idaho which caused it to go from culturally similar to rural San Bernardino in morst areas to what it is now. If you want to see a solid microcosm of this with one town look up how one fucked up christofascist mega church has been trying to seize control of Moscow Idaho.

  • Just to add to your point on how selfish or otherwise internally focused emotions can break people away from reactionary ideologies. I was pushed to the left starting in highschool because I came to the conclusion that Musk was an irredeemable fuckweasle circa 2015 and similarly Trump sets off too many of my "No bad" instincts that in 2016 I started to drift away from the reactionary ideology I was raised on. Note it took till about 2019 for everything to solidify into the proto version of my current ideology but still.

    Though to call my internal systems of morality and ethics an ideology is rather generous given the fact its basically me being a feral asshole proposing to kill/maim/torture politicians and billionaires until ideally I run out of piss rags to commit crimes against humanity on. As ive said in the past, I am not better than my ancestors and given how they were bandits and slavers that's saying s lot. But hey at least I want to kill people who mostly deserve it.

Best case scenario it's used for state thing only internal documents, mail out things, literal food stamps if needed better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.   • States need to start spinning up their own postal services either together or individually to avoid shit like this and to circumnavigate any other fuckery, IE Trump attacking mailed medicine because of trans folks or something equally vindictively stupid. Pretty hard for the feds to fuck with something entirely controlled by the states with no federal oversight, bonus points in that you could probably build it better and choke out the postal service if they continue to act horrid.

  • Thanks I knew there have been multiple names for that city due to Soviet fuckery and whatnot but wasn't sure. Like I knew it was originally Polish, then it was absorbed by the Soviets when they shoved everyone westward, and now it's Ukrainian but I wasn't quite sure.

I know that different regions have different names depending on language, culture, and region or is this just a case of two places having really similar/ the same name for reasons, IE Ontario Canada vs Ontario California.

    If you want to sell stocks for mining expeditions for example then fine, but the company should be dissolved afterwards or otherwise take the total financial damages for failure.

  • Problem is that usually the majority needs to get something out of things like this for that to work properly, IE who cares if they demolished black neighborhoods to build the freeway we got a freeway of out of it. That's not happening with data centers, nobody gets anything out of them including the oligarchs since this shit is just a resource sink and one that may get them killed at this rate.
