  • Yeah the only action that could possibly have an impact at this point would be to resurrect the militias of old and start a good old county war. Not particularly viable in the current political and economic climate, also I'm not entirely sure where you attack to cause significant damage outside of maybe bridges on the interstate and highway systems, the rails, and maybe the electrical grid around industrial centers and AI data centers.

Saying that and doing that is also a massively different thing, back when the old militias were about they didn't really have in investigationn methods and also they could literally go to work with basically no reprisal after shooting up some deputy or whatnot.

  • I honestly wish out of state influences weren't allowed to assist in state level races, same for local. If they do interfere they should be tazed on their crotch and then dragged to a shooting range for a live fire exercise, from president to county officials they should all be subject.

  • Oh I was just making note that there are ways for a gun to to fire by itself for one reason or another when loaded. Regardless making sure the gun is cleared is a pretty damned good way of ensuring it doesn't do that. Or alternatively leave a Ross Rifle behind for the Germans when you leave a trench so it's their problem.

  • Yeah the only guns I know of that can just "go off" either have a hair trigger that's worn or are of exceptionally shit build quality like say the Ross Rifle.

  • Don't do the Enclave dirty like that, they had actual military staff as a solid chunk of their original population, problem is they kinda went nuts after the nukes went off. Ignoring 76 for a moment it's kinda implied that the upper echelons on the rig started to go insane a couple decades in possible after the OG population were either dead or elderly. Also they produced Sergeant Arch Dornan which if he is any indication implies they had some level of original military culture at least by Fallout 2.

Hell even accounting for 76 if memory serves right it was the actual military elements who put a stop to the traditional Nazi style Enclave bullshit. Mind you that's after fucking everything up but hey damage control.

  • In a way they kinda do. At least in a maintenance sense, a lot of the propaganda isn't even necessarily for bringing in new people but almost exclusively for maintaining the current crop. I've said it before but if they lost even one or two propaganda outlets at the wrong time they'd shit the bed, hell them losing Kirk may very well have had devastating consequences for them.

  • This is generally true for most niche social issues, but that also means it's relatively easy to break if you know what you're doing. Personally I've taken the "Why do YOU care" approach wherein I basically use a janked up Socratic method to tear apart since with no underlying thought it's pretty easy to shove them into the IDC category again. Hell sometimes they become aggressively anti-anti-trans because they then get annoyed by it assuming my reasoning sinks in.

Biggest problem I've encountered is actually bigots who's bigoted opinions derived from religion or politics. Haven't found a great way around those fucks, yknow besides pointing out the only reason I'm not killing them is because of laws.

Results for both vary quite a bit with both, turns out acting like and looking like a half feral Redneck with obvious temper issues gives one a lot of maneuvering area with folks. Probably helps that I'm able to keep my cool and can get louder without yelling, so I can overwhelm folks while not coming across as losing my cool.

  • It's a Honda from 1984, it's a favorite of the Omnissiah

  • Californian checking in and no. He looks like a generic white dude id see at the gas station.

  • I too lose control of technology when I'm not looking at what I'm doing or it's already busted. For example I lose control of my Honda 110s throttle because it's got a faulty after market carburator. Doesn't mean the bikes sapient, even if the machine spirit is a drama queen.

  • 9/10 I'm pro union. This falls under that 1/10 where I'm not. Frankly speaking data centers shouldn't even be a factor given how much infrastructure alone in the US needs to be more or less ripped up and replaced not even getting into things that'd fall under quality of life like putting awnings with solar over parking lots or some shit.

  • Also the christofascist sub faction within the Republicans really fucken hate basically everyone, but also they see trans folks as an easy wedge issue to further roll back the rights of other social groups. Frankly I doubt most of the people at the top care one way or the other, it's just that they can't get shit done without the christofascists and they consider it an acceptable trade.

  • Guy who went through the all grades in California, never heard of that. Maybe its cause I'm in the Inland Empire or maybe it predated or postdated me but yeah.

  • Renewables still have holes in their capacity especially for more environmentally unstable regions. Got clouds solar efficiency is fucked, also pollar nights exist in some places. No water? Hydro is a non factor. Wind can in theory be maintained anywhere but has some scale issues that a military base either doesn't want to deal with or can't. Finally battery tech is so and so, perhaps in a decade or so it'll be advanced enough to overcome a lot of the limits but there's still some issues.

Nuclear is honestly the best we have for a relatively low maintenance easily stockable power generation system. Plus here's hoping it succeeds and reinvigorates interest in nuclear ships, kind of a shame that project was shelved during Eisenhower's admin.

  • They're banking on people being told "but it's not flock" and hoping that the technicality is what matters. Problem is I suspect that flock is already getting the tupperware treatment wherein it's originally a company name being applied to all products in the same category. So it's probably only a matter of time till all of these spyware corpos get labeled as flock.

Also fun fact I have never seen tupperware written down and around where I am it's pronounced tubbaware, so I had to look that up.

  • Yeah he also deserves to be shot. Non lethal of course, ignoring complications such as sepsis.

  • The reason the Romans were so weirdly stingy when it came to books is because they were a bitch to make and expensive as hell so unless it happened to be in a library you had to find someone with a specific book in their collection. It wouldn't be until the early medieval period when scriptoriums started to appear that you see large numbers of books being reproduced for relatively cheaply.

Oh also if a book wasn't well liked or just wasn't copied frequently then it had a pretty good chance of being lost. This is how the works on the Etruscans by Augustus was lost, note it was multiple volumes yet I'm pretty sure we have none, from what citations still exist is seems to have been a proper historical and anthropological work.

  • Personally I want him to go out like his uncle and father, though in this case it'd be completely justified.

  • Like if it's on his property does he really need pants on? Like the only embarrassing thing I'm hearing is that he wears tightly whities and not boxer briefs.

  • As an intelligent Redneck I appreciate the modifier of stupid for my dumbfuck kin. Some of us stick to the old ways and wish to watch the corpos burn, but well we are fleeting nowadays. Though funny enough a lot of people outside the Redneck culture don't recognize me as Redneck and peg me for the alternative title of American-Scot due to the fact I don't fit most stereotypes, other Rednecks will look at me for five fucking seconds and proclaim kinship.
