I am not a robot. I am a clock.

  • Yes, the United States. I work for cash only, helping family, friends and neighbors with vehicle maintenance, carrying furniture, taking the trash out, helping configure smartphones and programming contact data for elderly/disabled people...

Plus some extra arts and crafts stuff at times..

  • Interesting. Sadly makes sense in this day and age though..

I'm a weird moving target though, I have different devices configured for specific purposes. GB doesn't have a phone number for me, as I'm almost exclusively WiFi and have no SIM card in my tablet. I haven't even been logged into GB for over 3 years, I just figured I'd give their app a spin a few times to see what they're all about.

My tablet stays home, period. It's never been logged into Google nor GB, I sideload all my apps, I have Google Play Store + Services disabled. Also Location Services have never been enabled. Sure they can do loose location tracking, but the tablet stays home, so they literally never get any of my travel GPS data.

My current phone does have a SIM card, but isn't logged into Google nor GB.

GB just does have my email address, and it's the first time (to my knowledge) that they've even bothered to email me.

I think they're just trying to bait me into logging back in and giving them more of that sweet sexy useless data, I ain't even had a bank account in over a decade...

  • This is very interesting.

    Random relevant story time...

When I was 10 years old, in 4th grade English class, we were reading some silly short book where everything in the world basically worked backwards. Of course we all understood it was all silly nonsense, but it was fun for us around that age and kept the students attention.

Well, part of it regarded the alphabet being backwards. Now of course the teacher didn't expect us to remember that, nor did she grade us on that, but she took a moment in class to make it random fun, and asked the class if any of us could even try to say our ABC's backwards..

Around 5 o 6 students raised their hand and tried, but the best they got was about 5 letters in. What was I doing the whole time? Memorizing, in a compartmental sort of mode.

So, after about 5 minutes, the teacher was ready to move on. But then I raised my hand...

Straight from my fresh memory banks, no looking at the page or anything else:

    ZYX WVUTSR QPONM LKJIH GFEDCBA

Everyone was astounded, even me LOL! I learned it backwards in all of about 5 minutes!

Now I'm 43, going on 44. I still remember it to this day, guess I burned it into my long term memory.

Let me finish by saying this much, please please do NOT try to do this, it'll fuck up your entire concept of sorting words alphabetically! I mean yeah I'm good with language, spelling, letters, grammar, etc, but if you give me a list of 10+ words to sort alphabetically, without a computer of course, it'll end up taking me like 3 times longer to sort out, as I have to remind myself which order the alphabet actually goes.

  • Meh, we just went ahead and got a pair of 8" hard rubber tires from Harbor Freight. It would have been nice if they had the original ~8.5" size we wanted, as we only needed one tire.

I thought about upgrading to 10" tires to help make it somewhat easier to roll up and down stairs, but hell if these new tires ain't already heavy enough..

  • Yeah, they don't have to be an exact match, as long as the axle hole is 1cm.

I'll definitely check Harbor Freight soon, with old part in hand..

  • You clearly have a defective baby. Just take it to the baby changing room and exchange it for a quieter model. It's covered under warranty..

  • Brawndo. It's got electrolytes!

  • They ran out of Elmer's Glue.. 🤷

  • My Android devices have never been logged into Google, and the tablet I'm posting from has no SIM card, so it has no phone number.

They have no record of a phone number for me, because I've never signed into Google on any active Android device.

Edit: I also have Google Play and Services, and most other Google apps disabled. FOSS for the win! They really don't have any phone number for me.

  • Why?

  • Uh, okay. My account isn't even registered to a phone number, never has been, and my mobile devices aren't registered with Google.

I'm currently only signed into Google on my laptop, and if I do happen to sign into another device (which has happened before), Google just drops me an email something along these lines..

'A new device has logged into your account. If this wasn't you, click here, but if it was you, there's nothing you need to do'

  • Why?

  • Um, wait what? I'm in the 20+ year Google category...

I very rarely use Google anymore, but I do have a Google and YouTube account, plus my EBay account is also tied to my Google account, and I haven't had any such issues..

So what the hell happened to others? Do you have a brief breakdown, and perhaps an article link or something?

  • Why?

  • Are you sure about that? I had my Google account since before they acquired YouTube. During their acquisition and merger, so as to not corrupt or pollute their merging databases I presume, I was forced to pick a different username for YouTube than my Google account, and that still stands to this day, even though both are indeed effectively the same account.. 🤦‍♂️☹️

  • Interesting, yes. But, did you know, that any C program source code can be written in only one line of code? Sure, it would be one very long line of code, but the newline character isn't necessary in C code.

But newline characters sure improve readability for the programmers and maintainers, so, carry on, 99 lines ain't bad at all really 👍

  • At the rate we're going, humans will either be extinct by then, or people will only know how to read and write in hieroglyphics emojis..

  • Damn yo, I didn't even know that much about it.

I guess Texas is just that big, that it includes New York and Athens, Greece..

    WTF indeed...

  • Sir, this is a Wendy's

  • Banjos...
