Oh no, you!

  • Hanson. Their curse was that Mmmbop became THE hit early in their career. Their later stuff is in fact alright and with a lot more skill involved than a single repeated hook.

  • Kagi

  • At work we had the radio on in the workshop, and we were discussing my preference for 90s music.

Then some shite song came on that I remembered from decades past, and I had to add "but as you can hear, there was plenty of garbage back then too"

  • That cave painter really must've thought he was The shit.

  • PiNeApPlE oN PiZzA eWwW!!!!1one

I'm so sick of pretend pearl clutching over this non-issue. If you don't like it, don't eat it. If you do, that's fine too.

And for the record, my stance on pineapple on pizza is.... drumroll

    Who the fuck cares!

  • I used to live across the street from a ballbearing shop.

  • 124 before running out of time. Spent way too long trying to spell Phillipines and Liechtenstein, and ended up giving up. I think I would've ended up on 135ish maybe.

  • Sadly Jabra decided to leave the earbud market after 8

  • They come in both formats

  • My all time favorite was Jabra Elite 7 Active (or something like that), but sadly they went out of production.

These days I use Sennheisser Momentum TW4, and they're pretty great. I just miss the fact that my Jabra pair was waterproof.

  • Python devs hate this one weird trick...

  • Related on the same topic: Don't wait for the perfect ingredients, get going with something that is good enough. I have seen many cases where someone has waited to start doing something creative because they want better hardware first (And I have caught myself in this too). This is called the tool fallacy, and stifled creativity. So many songs never recorded. So many pictures never painted.

  • No. I managed to tur things around pre-covid, and now I'm doing reasonably well. Sure, inflation as of late is noticeable, but I don't have to try hard to make ends meet.

  • Hard to pick the top one, so I'll list three in no particular order:

    • My victoryknox kitchen knife
    • My cast iron skillet
    • My dishwasher
  • I was about to comment that "nothing is stopping you from making stuff like that today", but then I remembered that I have enough hardware and bandwidth available to host an obscene amount of lightweight (by today's standards) 90s sites and services, but I simply can't be arsed designing anything meant for others to view.

  • It'd be legal if they just claimed it was part of the training data

  • 25%. My dehumidifier doesn't go lower than that.

  • Staunch in some, not so much in others. Depends on the topic.

  • I've been meaning to revisit FreeBSD for a while, I just haven't gotten around to it.

I used FreeBSD extensively from versi9n 3.3 to 5something and barely touched linux back then. Only reason why I moved to linux was the larger community.

Then suddenly Linux became a good desktop OS without much hazzle at all, so it replaced both desktop and server-side use for me.

How is FreeBSD as a desktop OS these days? I vaguely remember compiling xfree86 from /usr/ports some 25 years ago, and dicking around with monitor sync rates to get Gnome to display properly.
