Oh no, you!

  • I wouldn't say I'm a particular fan, I just like a couple of their songs. I too prefer RATM, though.

  • Counterpoint: LB is, on average, alright with a couple of bangers. Wes Borland is an awesome guitarist, but Fred Durst is an embarrassing piece of shit.

  • Parent here. Can confirm. Newborns are gross, babies are messy, but once they are past that they gradually get better. 5yo+ can be pretty awesome.

  • Because I don't need to to vote for them. Besides, no party have proven deserving of my membership fee.

  • Yup, easily. Not a fan of his music, but he was big enough for me to learn about through cultural osmosis in the mid to late 90s.

Oh, and my sister absolutely hates him after covering George Michael, of which she was a big fan in her teens.

    Norway, by the way.

  • I'd call GAC or Pentagon (No, not that pentagon) and book the shipping. They're the ones we use at work for these things, as well as larger stuff, and they're pretty fast and costs a lot less that that kind of money.

While they organize the physical shipping, I'd call my logistical superhero of a coworker so we can get all the customs stuff out of the way and processed before arrival.

Once we had to ship four 20ft containers around the world fast, and we ended up booking (via GAC, iirc) an An124. I've been promised that next time we do so, I get to go along.

  • I find that whenever I see "provocateur", substituting "scumbag edgelord" doesn't change much.

  • Sock/sock, then shoe/shoe, because the shoes are in a different room. Walking around in shoes indoors is a big nono.

  • After using winrar for years (after using rar years before that... not sure if it's the same company), I finally bought to copies a few years back. One for myself, one as a Christmas gift to a friend.

  • Displaying lack of nuance

  • My cantina had entrecote, sautéed mushrooms, and beer available for lunch. The great food compensates for the workplace drama stemming from a horrible work environment.

    I work from home, btw

  • After which it's time to run some cables and connect to my neighbors. Then the rest of the town. And with some help I can run a fiber to the next city over.

I already have the hardware required due to an obscene amount scavenger from work, and I have enough rack space at home to function as a local ISP so that at least my extended neighborhood is covered.

The day internet truly dies, the only reasonable thing to do is to create a new one.

  • A server rack fan controller circuit. It's not finished yet, as some wiring remains. I'm currently waiting for my 3D printer to finish a mounting block that will hold the thermostat relay, the fan capacitors, as well as cover up the terminals under the breakers, as I don't want any exposed 230V.

Getting a DIN rail mounted in a 19" rack was a bit of work, but everything now has a compact mounting location at the topmost rack position.

  • Amateurs.. In late 1999 I installed FreeBSD via net installer on 33.6 baud.

  • I just want to point out that any hobby you engage in for entertainment without it feeling like a chore is by definition not boring (to you). Personally I couldn't see myself in a situation where I'd be collecting stamps, because I would probably find it very boring. But others enjoy it, so it's a valid un-boring hobby, just not for me.

  • I remember saying in the early 2000s that "Muslims today have replaced jews as a political target".

While true in a bush post-WTC world, today it's mostly back to "normal" scaremongering by right wing shitheads trying to lure in chuds with xenophobia.

Antisemitism just for the sake of antisemitism is still a thing, but that's mostly limited to outright neonazi/neofascist ideologies.

Note that the above is written independent of calling out Israel for its genocidal and apartheid policies. Fuck Israel and fuck IDF in particular.

  • When do I hand her the note with large crayon letters misspelling "It's OK, I'm not weyrd or annything!", though? Using colorful and friendly letters, of course.

  • "Just don't be weird" is exactly the kind of thought that'd cause me to come off as weird. Suddenly every detail of what I do is manual and scrutinized by myself.

  • Pretty much me on my flight home when returning from work. The plan is usually to pass out as soon as we're at cruising altitude and I can fully recline, but I'm just enjoying checking out of everyday life too much.
