  • My brother married a Mexican woman and during their first Thanksgiving together, sitting around the table with family members, my brother made a joking comment saying "now it's time for the Airing of Grievances!"

His wife's brother (who apparently wasn't a Seinfeld fan) misheard him as having said "the Aryan Grievances" and was like "what sort of fucked up white people shit is this?!"

  • This was the most Jerry Seinfeld comment I've ever seen on Lemmy. Bravo!

  • I remember buying a car in 2005 and considering if I should buy a hybrid or not. I did the calculations on how long it would take to break even upgrading to a hybrid - taking into account the price of gas at the time.

I remember thinking "yeah gas is $2 a gallon now, but there's NO WAY it stays that high over the life of the vehicle."

  • I feel like a jackass. I built my son's PC with 32 GBs of RAM a couple years ago. My buddy built a new PC and gave me his old 32 GBs, which was the exact same brand and spec of the RAM in my son's PC.

I tried putting in the new RAM but got a boot error immediately. Rather than taking the time to troubleshoot properly and get it working, I just pulled it out and threw it away. I was like "meh, RAM is cheap and always getting cheaper. If I want to upgrade later, I'll just buy more."

  • Yeah, I mean Megadeth was founded because Dave Mustaine went too hard for Metallica. I imagine your mom has seen some shit. But congrats on Dave being your dad though?

  • Yep, when they started forcing subreddits to open after having gone dark, that was the final straw for me. It was clear reddit was saying "fuck you, we own the platform and you can't do shit about it."

  • I actually had to turn it off halfway through and then revisit it the next day in the daylight. My wife asked "are you scared?" and I was like "not really scared, just deeply unsettled."

  • Seriously great movie. I saw it this weekend and now have been telling all my friends to watch it so I have people to discuss it with. The problem is that since it's a horror movie, a lot of people I've told are just hard passing.

They're missing out. It's scary, but it's also a legit good movie. The scariness in the movie isn't really like that from cheap jump scares like most movies, but just from this weird sense of something being very, very wrong.

  • I've been obsessed (pun intended) with watching different people's takes on the movie. I just saw this one yesterday that hit on that Nice Guy™ point that you mentioned:

  • I've heard this movie is being used as a litmus test by women to see if a man is boyfriend material. If they don't recognize that Bear is the villain, they are out!

    Edit: https://youtu.be/BY7wr47w3jM

Double edit: lol the dudes down voting this definitely missed the point of the movie and are wondering why girls don't date them even though they're Nice Guys ™

  • With that being said, skin cancer is incredibly shitty. My wife has melanoma and has to get checked by a dermatologist every 3 months. They typically biopsy at least once every visit, and about every other visit they schedule surgery to cut one or more cancer spots off her.

They're not very pleasant surgeries either, since they have to go fairly deep and take pretty wide margins to ensure that it didn't spread. The stitches aren't very fun, since they last for several weeks. The spots around muscles that you move a lot, like your calf or thighs are the worst, because they pull and can tear the stitches. Cleaning and dressing the bandages isn't really great either, since you have a lot of caked on blood and ooze that's tricky to get off without pulling on the wounds.

All in all, skin cancer is 0/10, would not recommend. Wear sunscreen.

  • Yeah, you need a new job. This is also my current job for not enough pay. You're getting shafted.

With that being said, this isn't really 3 jobs like the post implies. If you've worked with data integrations before, you know how SQL, APIs and cloud solutions interact.
