  • Yeah, I was saying the cheating being AI usage is what couldn't be proven. They mentioned a few other possibilities like the tests being leaked or people working off camera with them.

But yeah, the cheating is obvious. And the likelihood of it being done by AI is damn near certain.

  • The headline kind of misses the main point, which is that the students have to retake the exam because cheating was so rampant, likely due to AI usage but that can't be proven.

Between 2021 and 2025, 3.5 percent of test takers scored 100 or more on the 120-question UNAM test. This year, 16.3 percent did so.

The story was even worse at the highest of the high end. Between 2021 and 2025, 0.9 percent of test takers scored 110 or more; this year, 5.5 percent did so.

  • Keep in mind this teacher is in her early 20s. Most people that age don't really know much about how computers and files work.

  • Yeah, that's the case with a lot of media. But I've had three different people tell me they were good and asked if I was watching. I'm gonna wait until they're over before committing.

  • I still can't bring myself to watch any of the spin offs. People keep telling me how good they are, but I was burned before and need time to learn to love again.

  • I took the time to learn how to solve a rubix cube a few years ago. It's actually surprisingly easy. You can learn in less then an hour and then just a bit of repetition.

It's fun to show off to young nieces and nephews. I like to say "ok mix it up REALLY good this time" and "ooooh nooo, this is really mixed up, I don't know if I can do this one!"

  • I don't think adjudicated is a weaselly adjective. If you say someone's a rapist, people might think "well that's just their wild conspiracy theory." But when you say Trump's an adjudicated rapist, that's stating that he was found to have committed rape in a court of law.

  • Kind of them to wait to drop the news at 5:00PM on a Friday.

  • We were also pretty naive then. An editor for Wired magazine attended a party with Larry Page, Google's cofounder in 2002. He asked how Google was able to offer their services for free - and Page told him how their long term plan was to gather as much data as possible through their free services in order to build artificial intelligence.

So while we all thought a free GB of storage and searchable email was awesome in 2004, we were just blindly feeding what's happening today with the AI craze.

  • Interesting take. I guess I just realized every video we've ever seen of humanoid robots had been them doing something for a few minutes. But you never hear of one doing anything for days, months or years outside of science fiction.

  • If there's a vacancy he can make an appointment, but it's hard to say what would happen. The Kentucky constitution allows the governor to fill the vacancy, but the Republican legislature passed a law 2 years ago (for this exact scenerio with Mitch) that said they would need a special election.

In a sane world, the law would be found unconstitutional and the governor would be able to ignore it and fill the vacancy with whoever he chooses. But who knows how that would play out in the world we live in.

  • “Consequently, the grand jury’s indictment of Mr. Hearn is hard to explain. Mr. Hearn needs to learn whether the grand jury was properly instructed that the charge required him to have caused over $1,000 in damages, when the testimony failed to establish that he caused any damage at all. So does this Court.”

This would be so great of it ended up with the US attorney being disbarred for this.

They say a prosecutor can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich - but usually the grand jury isn't hearing testimony saying there's no way the sandwich committed any crime.

  • Yeah exactly - and this letter shows that the governor isn't going to do anything about it.

He's "insisting" that Thune begins the process to consider the seat vacant if McConnell can't serve. "Pwetty pwease can you declare a vacancy? If not I'll be so sad."

    Good luck with that...

  • There was also Trump's response of accusing the guy yelling of being a communist.

  • There's a video in the article that shows it. He put the prompt at the end of a bullet point, but still in the middle of the block of text. Very easy to miss if you're selecting all.

  • Yeah back in my day, cheating meant getting a copy of last year's test and memorizing the answers. At least you still learned something!

  • Also later in the article it mentions another professor who estimated that only 2 of their 86 students didn't use AI to cheat.

Like, what are we even doing any more?
