Forty out of 47 Senate Democrats voted in favor of one of the resolutions to block a $295 million sale of bulldozers, which the initiative’s author, Senator Bernie Sanders, claimed would be used to demolish homes in the West Bank, Gaza and Lebanon. Fifty-nine senators — mostly Republicans — voted against blocking the sale.

Thirty-six Democrats backed another resolution aimed at blocking a $152 million sale of 1,000-pound bombs to the IDF, which Sanders argued would be used in Gaza and Lebanon. Sixty-three senators voted against blocking the sale.

117th congress passed 2.0%, 118th passed 1.4%, and the 119th is about to end at 0.6%...

In this congress 18,500 Bill introduced, 104 became law. Except for annual budget, almost all of them were very small things no one cares about. Something this big hasn't been able to pass for a very very long time now.

Senators not voting for one bill, doesn't mean they'd vote yes for the opposite. That is an incredibly basic way to think

People are more likely to show up for the third box, if they've seen that the first two don't.

It's a numbers game, and we need to show as many as people as possible that a last resort really is the last resort and nothing else will fix it.

Like, they were doing shady shit, it wasn't working, so the voting members of the DNC gave neoliberals the boot.

That just fucking happened 19 months ago, and it happened with votes. And immediately materialized in a shit ton of wins because the DNC stopped hoarding money and started spending it on outreach.

If you don't understand how huge that is, then you're failing for neoliberal propaganda. They're desperate to make it look like they control the party, because depressing Dem turnout is the only chance neoliberals have to grab the party back.p

If you don't like the candidate in the general, the time to do something was during the primary.

If you think shitty incumbents can't be unseated and progressives can't become incumbents, you just haven't been paying attention.

And I'd bet my house that you don't have an alternative, you just want people to disengage from the democratic process. Which is fucking stupid because if you vote, it doesn't mean you can't do anything else. And if you're doing anything else, why the fuck wouldn't you also take the time to vote?

How do you legitimately not understand the answer is absolutely never "vote less"?

We can change who "they" are though, and this is our best chance since FDR.

It's not enough to have a progressive president, we need a progressive Congress behind them. But we absolutely can refuse to bail AI bris out and strip the rest of the oligarchs of their wealth.

People acting like we can't just depresses turnout.

Republicans won't, neoliberals won't, but if you act like those are the only two options...

Genuinely asking:

Is this the first time DLSS hurts fps instead of improving it?

Like, I thought that was the entire point of it. It allowed you to turn up settings but still have useable frame rates.

I don't know who would pay for a card to support this, just to turn around and cut the fps in half.

It seems like their target demo is people that pay for 5090s but for some reason still put on all the frame gen and scaling stuff to make their game look worse. This chops the frame in half, when they could just turn off frame gen and scaling and likely have better and steadier frames.

They think the things they learned as a child are still relevant today.

Sometimes they're right, most of the time they're not.

Like, some people are still super upset that cursive isn't taught in school, mostly because humans don't like being the last in a line of knowledge, because that means they didn't really need it.

For an extreme example, look at the pushback again cochlear implants from deaf communities, especially from people over 40. A significant amount want to prevent deaf children from being able to hear, just because it makes the deaf community smaller.

Even if people don't admit it, we all want our "tribe" to expand. And tribal lines are only racial lines when racial segregation is happening. Segregate all the dead kids into a "school for the deaf" and they're gonna get tribal and want to see that tribe continue to exist even if that means their tribe members are worse off personally.

It's basic human psychology, to tie it back up to your question.

Getting mad at later generations for not learning the same stuff, is just a small slice of that behavior.

The point is that the publisher isn’t going to revoke your access to the physical book at any time

But for kindle if you don't have a local copy and if it's removed from the store it's gone...

When you PURCHASE/BUY/OWN a copy of software, it is reasonable to believe that you have the legal right to the unimpeded use and enjoyment of that copy for as long as it lasts.

Right...

And if you don't have a local copy of the install file, "as long as it lasts" is as long as you can download it...

That means no “always-online” requirements that make ongoing communication with the publisher mandatory

Then only buy peer to peer games.

Anything that has corporate servers, will eventually be turned.

I fully support you and everyone else doing that, it's the only way peer to peer servers will get better. But I honestly thought everyone understood this, it's incredibly basic but obviously a lot of people had zero idea what they were actually spending money on.

Most importantly:

When you PURCHASE/BUY/OWN a copy of software

You're not buying a copy of the software, you're being a license to use the software.

It's different and you not understanding the difference is why it's so upset and you don't know what to ask for to fix it.

I searched to check...

Paperbacks average 10-20, hardbacks 40-60.

But obviously that's not every book. The more it's read and the thicker it is the faster the spine falls apart. Obviously a hardback threaded together with heavy paper is better than pulp and cheap glue. But there's a lot in between the extremes.

I could buy a cheap paperback, throw it on a shelf, and it will look perfect.

That doesn't mean the glue didn't magically degrade and it will hold together thru a normal reading tho

Big auctions do consignment and even if the closest one is 8 hours drive, its gonna be worth it.

A lot are done annually or every X months, the big ones are even televised.

But not only will people be there to buy cars to fix up, people with enough money to buy fully restored will be there.

You'll need to do some paperwork first, but to actually do the sale you just drop it off and walk away. They take X% of the price, but after that is still more than you'd get in a private sale for a nice classic car, especially low miles like that.
