  • I like that idea. Phase in tax credits based on the student loans you have paid in the last X years, with higher weight given to more recent payments.

To be clear, even though I've just about finished paying mine off, I'd vote for full forgiveness in a heartbeat with or without that provision, but I think it would make it much more pallatable for a large chunk of the population.

  • The atmosphere is about 78% N2 and only 0.05% CO2. So If you took all the oxygen out of a room, it would be mainly nitrogen left, and still only trace levels of CO2.

  • It grinds my gears so much that organizations like NPR still refer to it as Obamacare in their reporting. Its a cutesy/cringey nickname at best, and a slur at worst.

  • Sex therapists only want one thing and it's discussing fucking.

  • Maybe next we can get to the bottom of other radical left conspiracies, such as:

"Why did the UN's wifi drop Trump's phone connection right as he was placing his McDonalds order??"

    and

"What caused the UN bathroom lights to turn off after 26 minutes of Trump sitting on the can, when the motion sensor was clearly set to 30 minutes??"

  • The H-Mart near me has a Japanese bakery next to it. It's a lot of sweet/fluffy breads and pastries mixed with various sweet/savory fillings. For example, they have one that's kind of like a nice flaky croissant wrapped around a sausage that has lots of herb flavor. Or breads filled with custard, red bean paste, taro paste, and similar.

It's generally pretty rich for my tastebuds, but a lot of it is very tasty!

  • If I was playing The Sims, and one of my Sims started showing un-mistakeable signs of self awareness, I would panic and ctrl-alt-delete that shit so fast.

Maybe its better if we DMT-and-lasers our way into a plan before we start banging on the glass.

  • A good brownie with sea salt sprinkled on top is most definitely essential!

  • Have you had the banana cream Twinkies? Probably not as good as the OG ones, but definitely a nice treat when you come across them!

  • These days I pirate the music, and if I like it I go back and buy the album directly from the band (when possible). If i really like it, I buy concert tix/merch. If it doesn't tickle my fancy, then I don't.

In either case, I don't think the artist is too worried about the pennies lost from my Spotify plays.

  • Playing Devil's Advocate - If the classification of "munitions" effectively provided all the legal protections and requirements that they wanted to apply to encryption software, it would have been a lot of wasted time and effort to create a new classification and then update all the other legal documents to include and refer to that new classification.

Like, I don't even want to guess how many references to "munitions" exist in various laws and regulations that would have then needed to be reviewed, amended, debated in committees, and ultimately voted on.

  • Think of it like two groups of people in separate rooms with a large open window between them. Not everyone is trying to talk one on one to the other group all the time. And sometimes just feeling like you're in the same physical space can be nice.

It's not perfect, but in many circumstances it's worlds better than having tiny portable windows that mostly facilitate one on one conversation.

  • I've thought the same thing, Trying to hold a video call between families using a phone or even a laptop is such an awkward experience, especially if you want to just hang out virtually for an extended time like you said.

But it wouldn't even have to involve a separate box or docked phone. Everyone's got a smart TV that can run apps, so all it should take is a USB webcam with a decent far-field mic.

But yeah, in general I'm surprised this isn't more of a common use case.

  • I'm pretty sure the cancer is half the reason it tasted so good!

  • Used to drink out of the hose all the time growing up in the 80s, but it was usually after playing in the sprinkler or otherwise running the hose for quite awhile. But never really thought twice about it either way.

Now as an adult the hose water always has this super appealing nostalgic smell, but I don't run it very often, and the idea of whatever might be lurking in that stagnant water just squicks me out too much to take a swig :(

  • Yep, you're right. I have never been inside a mosque before, so the stairs looked very odd out of context.

  • Thank you! The uncropped version of that photo makes a whole lot more sense!

  • Yeah, Lidarr is easily the weakest of the *arrs in my experience. As a newbie to setting up that stack, it was definitely nice to have a similar interface and functionality between the apps, but the last few months have me ready to look for something different for music.

  • As far as I can tell, no. I haven't been able to search or import releases since about April.
