  • This story is a nothingburger

Schleimer said the event’s “financial profile” resulted in a roughly $30 million loss, which the company “anticipated” beforehand.

I promise the company isn't throwing away money for the fun of it. There are lots of different ways to look at profit. I'd bet a lot of that money found its way into the President's pockets.

Just like Amazon "lost" $5M on the Smelania doc.

As a tangent, fuck articles that have videos pinned at the top about a completely different subject.

  • I support the idea of a federated employment platform. However I see no reason for an employment platform to have social features.

  • Thanks for that perspective. Mastodon really is terrible.

I've complained about this before but I find a lot of Fediverse projects seem intent on straight up cloning mainstream platforms for no logical reason and this seems to be yet another example.

  • Every Windows debloater script comes with the caveat of "until the next update". Instead of becoming a Windows Defucking Engineer I just left it entirely.

  • Brilliant

  • Pirro brought a large carton of evidence collected by the Department of the Interior to a private meeting with Trump in the Oval Office

You have to be a special kind of stupid to think Trump cares about evidence. Especially as someone on the inside.

  • As much as I love Mastodon for what it has achieved, I have to also agree that it's bad . For many reasons, several of which are fundamental in nature. But I digress.

  • These are both Phanpy. I think the difference is GtS vs. Mastodon.

  • Vanilla Mastodon will totally display long posts though. You just can't create them.

  • Cheap gas drives people to consume more of it, destroying the atmosphere, and killing people on our roads. How about instead we take the money from them and reinvest it in sovereign clean energy infrastructure? And then next time they want to have a war in the middle east, we'll have one less giant problem.

  • saying they should ‘give some of that back to the public

Then make them. I mean you're basically fucking omnipotent. You absolutely have the power to make them do that. So if you really believe that, make them. But you don't really believe that, this is simply a whataboutism to distract from the damage you personally are causing the economy.

  • That's cool. Was he the Secretary of Health for the USA too?

  • Capitalism doesn't understand "good enough", only MOAR

  • If you need proof that drivers aren't thrilled about subscription features, just look at Reddit

Ah yes, the bastion of public opinion that is...Reddit.

  • It was not a paid placement or advertisement. We are continually looking for more ways to say thanks for using Firefox.”

    LOOOOOLOLOL

  • The only qualification he cares about is the willingness to worship him.

  • Ya see, the problem with lying every time you flap your gums, is no one fuckin believes you anymore.

  • BMW is framing this as a "one-time movie partnership"

What kind of people do you think are eating that up?

"Guys, it's just this one-time ad, we had no intention of ever doing this again! Just forget about it for a year or so!"

  • Well something happened to cause his approval rating to go up.

  • It was a loyalty test (like everything else) and she failed.
