  • Human mods will typically actually tell you why you were banned, and might even entertain a conversation about it.

These days most platforms just run it through the AI and it will just ban people completely randomly. If there even is a method to protest it is always rejected.

  • 100%, that's why people are always banned completely randomly. This is just press to convince people to buy more stonks.

  • You should try not to get so worked up about it.

  • I could ask you literally the same question.

  • I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make now.

The point is professional platforms should not be filled with whatever whims come across your mind that day. It is a 100% completely redundant function, in the wrong place.

I really don’t understand why you’re so upset at the app...I don’t understand the multi-comment thread where your argument seems to be “I don’t like it so it shouldn’t exist”.

I don't understand why you think I'm upset. You seem to be equating the number of comments I write with some sort of level of anger. In which case, I must ask why you're so upset? I just think it's dumb.

  • doesn’t sound like this would be federated?

Then why is "fediverse" in the title of the post?

That’s quite literally what this app appears to be trying to do.

Except it's not, it's trying to be another social media platform.

  • The fediverse is already broken up across way too many usecases, such that I have to have a profile for videos, a profile for podcasts, a profile for my blog, a profile for communities, etc. etc. and they want to add another one.

  • Where would I put my CV and professional details, my skills and abilities?

    On a separate, professional site.

    what’s the harm of it?

The harm is filling a professional website with a bunch of noisy nonsense no one cares about. I don't need to see your federated OnlyFans profile when I'm looking for an employee.

  • 1 = social media

"the other" = Professional business platform

I think these things should be separate.

  • So create a separate account. There's no reason it needs to be on a dedicated platform.

  • Thats great, you can network and have people skills on social media and link from there to your professional bio. There's no reason for them to be in the same place.

  • Reviews, salary discussions, union organization and all such stuff that employees could leverage against employers, for instance.

These are all things that could be designated to one or the other, as appropriate. There's no reason they need to be in the same place and every reason not to.

  • This story is a nothingburger

Schleimer said the event’s “financial profile” resulted in a roughly $30 million loss, which the company “anticipated” beforehand.

I promise the company isn't throwing away money for the fun of it. There are lots of different ways to look at profit. I'd bet a lot of that money found its way into the President's pockets.

Just like Amazon "lost" $5M on the Smelania doc.

As a tangent, fuck articles that have videos pinned at the top about a completely different subject.

  • I support the idea of a federated employment platform. However I see no reason for an employment platform to have social features.

  • Thanks for that perspective. Mastodon really is terrible.

I've complained about this before but I find a lot of Fediverse projects seem intent on straight up cloning mainstream platforms for no logical reason and this seems to be yet another example.

  • Every Windows debloater script comes with the caveat of "until the next update". Instead of becoming a Windows Defucking Engineer I just left it entirely.

  • Brilliant

  • Pirro brought a large carton of evidence collected by the Department of the Interior to a private meeting with Trump in the Oval Office

You have to be a special kind of stupid to think Trump cares about evidence. Especially as someone on the inside.

  • As much as I love Mastodon for what it has achieved, I have to also agree that it's bad . For many reasons, several of which are fundamental in nature. But I digress.
