go away. you are a weirdo if you are reading this.

  • everyone in the restaurant was thinking about her tits.

each man, woman, and child that dared to gaze upon their glory.

  • yummy.

  • you realize you breathe in way more nasty nasty microparticles going outside for like 3 min that you do from your toilet flushing a couple of times a day? lots of fungus, bacteria, viruses, spores, etc.

your immune system exists dude. and it needs light exercise.

the only way aerosolized waste is making you sick is if you like go inside a sewer or waste disposal tank where it's intensely concentrated, and it's really the methane that's doing you in, as the bacteria don't float.

also your basic breathing through your nose and mouth is shooting out way more nasty shit that actually can infect other people. by paranoid logic we should all be using closed breathing systems at all times.

  • you just have a shitty job or a shitty manager.

i've had many jobs and none of them were like that, outside of a few shitty retail jobs I had.

good companies aren't like that. they are professional and people leave their personal shit at the door. and anyone who brings their personal shit into the workplace is terminated.

  • What terrifies me, is yeah i see that in person all the time. Not just on the internet.

It's revenge, and bitterness. I meet 30 year olds making like 200K a year who are steeped in bitterness they can't afford a beach front mansion. A large part of it is pure entitlement and arrogance. Many young people think the world just owes them and they know better than everyone else and are completely delusional about how the world works. And often just spout meaningless cliche bullshit they know from social media rather than having any knowledge of history or any perspective with context.

And they encourage it in each other. I've seen so many awful groups at bars just dogging each other on the say the most heinous shit and openly declaring how they actively abuse and want to abuse and hurt other people. Then they basically think they are good people because they make posts on social media about how they support Trans people, and that justifies their thirst for blood or something. It's insane. It's like a collective psychosis.

And of course the irony is if you confronted them with the same violence that spouts out of their mouths, they will cry foul and play the victim. Because it's OK for them to want to murder people, but they also see a cafe that doesn't have oat milk as 'abusing' them.

  • I just want to get away from self-righteous agenda posters. who are so indoctrinated they think everyone else is exactly like them and if they aren't, they are terrible awful people.

it's not even a political thing, there are many folks in hobby and other groups that approach life this way, trying to shove their opinions down everyone else's throats and demonizing them for not agreeing, and/or playing the victim when someone pushes back against their shitty 'i know better than you' bullshit.

  • there are a handful of users who just post shitty low quality rage bait from shitty websites constantly across various communities all day long. many of these users were not on fedi a year ago.

like, websites you have never heard of, that are highly editorialized and frame things as dramatic and hyperbolic as possible.

and these posts dominate many of the news and politics communities, because juicy dopamine headlines mean people upvote.

and the comment sections are dumpster fires of similar minded folks, and anyone who is skeptical/critical gets dog piled and/or the OP comes out swinging calling them a fascist for daring to challenge the 'trump does thing world is collapsing' narrative they are all addicted to.

it's all engagement/rage bait quality stuff. it's not like, respectable moderate journalism that reports facts, that shit doesn't get upvotes because the headlines are not juicy enough.

FWIW I have been on fedi for 3 years and this stuff is exploded the past 6-9 months, I used to like the news/politics subs a year ago because they were not dominated by this low quality content and typically had more respectable news-sources. but you can't compete with low-brow rage bait trolls who are just here to collect as many upvotes and flood the zone with dramatic bullshit to drive engagement, and that's what these posters are doing. if you confront them they just say you are a bad person who clearly supports Trump etc.

  • .ml users think they are being welcoming and kind when they harass and insult other users.

  • or they just want to avoid people like you. because you know, it's insufferable to be lectured how you such by random strangers who just want to go on about catastrophe when most likely they are living a very cushy life, hence they need to be obsessed with politics in a wholly negative way, because that is the only major drama/tension in their life.

  • I said it was not a valid measurement system. It never was a measurement system at all. It's bullshit on top of bullshit that believe believe in and it becomes a brief collective delusion.

In corpo land it was nothing more than 'feedback' questionnaires from which they derived a score used to evaluate managers.

Just like the Atkins diet and every health/food trend. This is the same thing, just in terms of psychology.

And like a lot of things in psych it's simple a product of how attractive you are and what tones of voice you use, and all that. Legit psych studies show us that people interpret people's intelligence and empathy based on their physical appearance, more than anything else, which is rooted in cultural expectations and stereotypes.

Nobody is taking EQ/emotional intelligence tests, other than random stupid quizzes on the internet, like MBTI or self-diagnosed authistic/adhd folks. Legit psychologies and therapists are not measuring anyone's 'emotional intelligence' because it's not a real thing that can be measured.

And no, I have no issue with the original researcher. He was pursuing his own theory and doing legit work, but it was bastardized when it was popularized. Which is pretty much the case of all legit science and research. Most popular interpretations of most scientific theories are vastly oversimplified to the point they are incorrect, because they aren't about doing science, they are about making a neat little meme that dumb folks can parrot to feel smart. That's what emotional intelligence is, a meme.

  • that's also how really successful human beings work. they bullshit and lie and appear confident, and people believe them and ignore the people who don't do that, because they don't appear as confident.

also why people basically fall in love with AI, because it spouts nothing but bullshit at them and they eat it up like candy because being fed back bullshit is a dopamine hit.

interacting with real people doesn't supply endless dopamine and they might not tell you what you want to hear.

  • it's a gloried spell checker, basically.

and yeah, it's a really good spell checker.

  • lucky, like 90% of moths I see are the ones that eat my shit and yeah I'm killing those fuckers, and seeing one of them makes me have to like pull out my clothes and check all my stored grains for infestation.

if you are infested it's a bitch to get rid of them. grain moths are nasty little fuckers.

  • yeah, they suck.

they eat my clothes and they eat my grains.

fuck wool moths and grain moths, fuckers.

  • 2004 was when it was popularized in business speak. MBAs were going on all about it and it was all over business journals. it didn't pass out of business speak around that time then, because that was before social media. nobody was blogging about emotional intelligence in 2006, other than business people writing for other business people. It was popularized in a 2004 article in the Harvard Business review, specifically, wherein the article quoted the psych researcher who wrote a book about from the 90s. It was MBAs scraping around for a made up metric by which to evaluate effective managers and how to choose/promote managers, and this was the 'new metric' they put forth. It was very trendy at the time to talk about business leaders needing to be empathic, which was part of George Bush's whole 'compassionate conservatism/neoliberalism' movement that the corpos latched onto at the time (like the latch onto Trumpism today). It all was a big nothing burger and by the time Obama came around it was completely gone and corpos were back to focusing on the bottom line and freaking out about how evil Democrats were.

it didn't become common to see laypeople use it in everyday language until the past few years. now it's on literally every other dating profile and social media post where the person blathers on about how they have high emotional intelligence and it's everyone else who doesn't and they only want to associate with other high emotionally intelligence people... it's a bullshit status marker.

lest us not forget, before 'emotional intelligence' it was emotionally quotient (EQ) in the 2010s. everyone was blathering about 'I have high EQ' 10 years ago. because again, another buzzword trying to sound legitimate by equating itself to IQ. Nobody uses that term anymore because it became passe, emotional intelligence is the replacement for it.

EQ/emotional intelligent/butthole empathy was never anything measurable or standarized. It's nothing more than a buzzword that is hyped up as the 'answer' to everything, when it is in fact, a meaningless empty term that allows people to project anything they want.

in 5 years nobody will use this term anymore. there will be a new one, or maybe they will revive EQ. it's all marketing in the end, about conning folks into believing something is real and selling them the idea of it so they buy your book, view your channel, or subscribe to your stream. etc

  • if you met today everyone would be telling you how immoral and wrong it is and how she abused you if she was older than you.

people are weirdly paranoid about age gaps in relationships these days. it's totally bizarre. social media cooking all of their brains and turning harmless stuff into paranoid delusions of exploitation and abuse.

  • people have in in their heads they have to achieve certain things by 30 or they will never happen or you have 'failed' at life and are a 'loser'.

    career, house, marriage, kids, etc.

despite the fact, realistically, most of those things are now only achievable by the time you are 40, due to economic reality, and more and more folks will never achieve them also due to that reality. the mentality however, persists, especially among those who are under 30 that 30 is when you 'become adult' and have all the 'adult' things.

only 1/3 of people own a home by 30 today, and I'd guess a huge chunk of those folks inherited that home rather than purchased on their own income. every young home owner i ever met had their home mostly or completely paid or by their parents. it's common for 20 year college kids in my city to own homes, because their folks buy them for them while they attend university. and my only family is thinking of doing that for their kids.

  • No, it can't.

Buzzwords are words that are hyped up by the media and have no substantive meaning. And will be forgotten when the next buzzword comes along.

Nobody was talking about 'emotional intelligence' 5 years ago in popular culture. Now it's ubiquitous.

5 years ago the rage was 'love languages'. everyone was talking about their 'love language'. now that's passe. they were also ranting about how they were 'empaths', which is something you dont' see much of anymore.

10 years ago it was how everything was 'toxic' or 'trauma'. those fell out of favor after the pandemic.

and in 5 years from now, nobody will talk about emotional intelligence, they will have some new vague buzzword to hide behind and to use online to feel smug and superior about.
