  • Basically most people think it's mean to keep them inside and refuse personal responsibility for what that cat gets up to when it kills local wildlife and ends up in the cat walk between my house half eaten with intestines strewn about by coyotes.

Edit: but we're international so I should consider locations where cats aren't an invasive species.

They are where I live, it's illegal to let them out. Not enforced however.

  • Youtube 3rd party apps do nothing but deal with privacy issues and still rely on YouTube infra which means also dealing with the censorship and copyright systems. Meanwhile you're just seen as a leech, including by creators since they get no ad rev from you watching. I adblock too, so that includes myself.

What are the viewers watching on alternative platforms with no video creators besides crypto bros and political extremists too edgy for YouTube?

Realistically I don't see anything happening besides the usual tried and true method now:

They self own their own website so hard with repeat scandals until an exodus happens and hope it's your new decentralized platform instead of another corpo centralized platform.... which is most likely because the way I see it done is with big bags of money and contracts with creators.

  • I have one of each.

One will look at you like you're an idiot if you try and play with him. Cuddle monster is in your lap every time you sit down however. He satisfies his instincts with toys that struggle instead of run. A motorized fish toy is his current favorite. He'll "kill" it then parade his fish around the house yowling. I give him a good boy pet if he decides to show me.

The other wants to cartwheel through the air and destroy pop-up tunnels chasing twine for 5 minutes before it's back to bird watching.

  • Viewers can't do shit but watch where the creators are. Up to creators to organize. I see tubers bitching about payment and copyright. Can cry me a river, if they only offer videos on a single platform.

I was perfectly fine with YouTube before monetization.

  • That's a thing of course, done deal.

  • It's just funny now.

  • My parents bought laptops together around 2013 that they still use today, just with new batteries and SSD upgrades.

Windows 10 was already pushing it, I had to do some funky things to stop Windows from overwriting old drivers with newer versions that broke stuff like the trackpads. Now they have Fedora KDE spin. The GUI is similar enough when all you do is use Thunderbird, Firefox, and the File Explorer.

Changing OS was still scary to them, so I just brought over a live USB for them to test drive.

  • Muted in the English world. I argue junk food commercials draw a lot of parallels with cigarette commercials of the past. For some reason obesity isn't worth prevention so the advertisements are pretty gross.

Soft drinks. Coca Cola especially really loves to tie emotions and sports/holidays to sugar water.

  • Shit and immediately leave 'cuz I don't want ass grapes gang.

  • If it was actually AI sure.

This is an unthinking machine algorithm chewing through mounds of stolen data.

  • USA media really hates to arrive anywhere huh.

  • The shittiest ms paint drawing is better than anything an AI can do because AI is soulless and dehumanizing.

Which is to say, I view you as gleefully causing culture rot.

  • I remember Oblivion too well to replay vanilla right now. I'll probably try it out a decade from now modded out the wahzoo.

  • I can't wash dishes even if wanted to, too tall so the sink is way too low down. Instant back pain.

Buuuut I'd rather not renovate the kitchen just for that. Dishwasher crutch! Haha.

  • I think it's the same thing. Same weakness or flaw in humans exploited in all your examples. With the same selfish goals driven by the same bad people as the "right winger" leadership as you call them throughout history.

  • Counterpoint is religion. 75% right now live in unreality. Minimum. Not a minority.

It's been like this since the beginning of written history. It doesn't seem we can break free so far.

Because it's the vast majority, my mere pointing it out will risk ire.

  • Fedecan is solid. basically the current Canadian instances work together as a somewhat joint network now.

I like mine, the admin is TheDude and I like their Dude inspired attitude. Piracy allowed here too not just dbzer0, which is why my new emulation community is there.

It's a toss up, but dbzer0 is more overt which is appealing. I'd go with them if I wasn't in Canada

Shitjustworks is very laid back in a Canadian way, and the domain name scares away prudes/puritans which is something I value like yourself.

  • Unfortunately, Canada too. Very annoying.

  • I'm on year 11 of pulling this off lmao.

  • I'm union blue collar, but yeah there's still branded swag and free meals/snacks during most meetings or training OT at least where I'm at.
