I can be controversial or annoying because I always require proof and facts for whatever people are saying/claiming. This has gotten me into a lot of heated debates, even got myself banned from "YouShouldKnow" for saying I need more proof of Israeli's genocide (that was long ago, got more proof and changed my mind). If I do not agree on some subjectively obvious topic, please do not assume I'm being unfriendly, evil or a troll. I do try my best to approach any subject with neutral and open mind. Just call me autistic with OCD

  • This is like saying "Easily available drugs from deep web is nothing new", but after deep web protocol got integrated into the chrome with black market set as homepage

I understand your core argument, but it's weak. Fentanyl exists for 70 years, but only in the last 10 or so years it became problematic due to availability

Evil shit that was hard to do 20 years ago, is slowly becoming accessible to every dumb jackass you know that doesn't know what command prompt is

  • OS doesn't need permissions to access hardware

  • You somehow missed the original argument. No one is forced to use the app store, which is what this is generally about.

  • Fair, but there is an argument to be made about how hosting things are now cheaper than ever, by a huge margin. When 1GB used to cost 1 dollar, they had 30% cut. Now when that's 0.01 not 1, 100x the difference (while games have gotten like what, 10x bigger?), it's still 30%.

But you know what is the most damning argument against their cut? Steam earns more money per employee than next 3 companies combined and Gabe is buying fleet of yachts and multiple submarines, not even getting into real estate, while indie devs are going broke one after another. That cut might make a major difference for devs, but at this point Gabe has already too much money and won't suffer from having less of it, which is really not consumer or developer friendly thing to do, basically hoarding riches like other billionaires

  • Jesse what the fuck are you talking about

  • You're not really buying the code, you're buying userbase, rights and patents (if any)

  • They're the most surveilled places in the store and now stores are looking into face recognition tech to effectively ban thieves from stores

They might not care about small stuff, but repeatedly doing it will definitely put you on their radar

  • I was talking about CGI. Video editors and special effects, not actors. The editing part. You know - software?

Just to give you an example, some 15 years ago I tracked and positioned objects in footage frame by frame, which used to take a lot of time. Then Mocha came along with AI tools that automate it all, and now instead of spending 10 hours, I spend 10 minutes on a scene

  • Wait till you find out about crypto and how much energy it uses compared to AI, now THEN you will lose your shit

  • First, you come up with a way to save on materials, then you come up with a way to represent the changes as a feature

  • Why would they change? The AI tools in movie industry have been doing miracles for decades. Especially when it comes to tracking and replacing things in footage, which jumpstarted the new era of CGI. OP, do you also want to ban movies like Avatar?

  • Correct if I'm wrong, but macs don't even have 10gbit ethernet, which at this point is ancient tech for servers and memory costs like gold bars, not even talking about the fact that most services are designed for linux. Mac seems like a bad and expensive choice for servers. Raspberry sounds like a better choice for self-hosting if we're talking about that

  • I think another field where AI works is video (and photo? never tried it) upscaling. I can take a 1080p movie and upscale it to 4k, after that it is truly a much better experience when I view it of oculus

  • Well I was mostly browsing deep web (/j just in case)

  • I understand arsonism is bad, but calling this a terrorist attack?

  • I feel like nearly all russian porn I've seen consists of something unconsentual, like deep web of porn

  • Probably should have googled the meaning of that word first

  • Honestly chuckled a bit after checking out the front page and pretty much all posts were about.. men

But that (making fun of men) might just be the idea behind that subreddit and I'm looking at it wrong

    EDIT: I dun goofed

  • Oops

    Jump
  • Aren't they the same but just dubbed in english? I picked the english one as I didn't want to read subtitles
