I'm just a weird, furry, pan guy (cis he/him). I also have a big, blue username.

Currently on Earth for 8 years ensuring steps to unite humanity and usher us into the galactic civilization just so I can see my boyfriend again.

  • Fundamentally the only unique attribute for these goggles is 3D

VR is way more than just "being 3D." The way you interact with things is a bigger influence on what makes it than the visuals. You're not just having things pop out at you off a 2D plane; you're in the thing with them, and you can "touch" them or do pretty much anything you can do with your actual body.

You're right people don't necessarily want to wear a heavy thing on their face for this, though. Especially when there isn't a lot in the way of experiences that actually offer everything the space is capable of and your hardware is almost four-fucking-thousand dollars.

  • When a thing called "shit just works" fails to work:

(Been fine for me to view; but I'm not entirely sure if that's because I'm not on the instance)

  • I generally only block people who clearly are antagonizing for the sake of being antagonistic or are so far up their own ass, there is no chance of ever pulling them out of it so it's not worth it to even have them visible.

If I blocked everyone or everything that I didn't completely agree with, there would be so, so much shit I would never see.

  • I get that they can harm the environment (especially when there is an overpopulation); that's not what I'm asking. The question was how is it bad for the cat?

  • Sure, but what makes vodka vodka and not, say, brandy or moonshine if not the starting material you're fermenting?

  • How is it terrible for the cat? Their natural habitat is outside!

  • Everyone dumber than me is a moron.

Everyone smarter than me is an asshole.

With all these morons and assholes everywhere, it's amazing society even functions.

(FYI: this is a parody of a George Carlin joke about driving)

  • You're upset because people aren't completely fucking insane with their hot takes on every topic under the sun? 🤨

Have you tried having a conversation with people locked up in a mental asylum?

  • Most of the anti-American sentiment I've seen on SM over the last 2 or 3 years has been from Americans. It sucks here unless you're rich, racist, and/or incredibly stupid.

  • I mean... Death cures all 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • I noticed in my teens but was always dismissed because I was "just a kid."

  • I mean, it's all news concerning technology, or tech companies. Did you expect there to just be constant posts about new tech or improvements to existing tech? Because that shit doesn't happen every day.

  • It's a bird!

    It's a plane!

No! It's a BIG, RED ROCKET!

  • I don't prescribe to the notion a lot of comments here have that "enshittification" has just one, specific meaning. Something that wasn't shit before but is slowly turning to shit--for any reason--fits the bill.

Whether you planned to rope customers in with the promise of something free or simple only to turn that around once you reach a certain saturation, or you just stop giving a fuck about quality because it's hurting your bottom line, the process of fucking up your product to make more money is still enshittification and it seems there nothing safe from this as long as capitalism rules.

  • That's just the debugger fixing errors in the universe simulation ;)

  • This has made me wonder what kind of shit happens when a Borg assimilates a symbiote bonded Trill 🤔

Is that like a 2-for-1 mind collective bonus? Or even deeper, like every single Trill ever bonded to the symbiote has a separate personality (er, well voice at least) within the collective?

  • No way that's true.

Only one said that? I don't believe it.

  • Science must make some scientists go insane when they can see something, know some of its properties and such, but you can't empirically measure it or really prove it exists.
