I don't read DMs.

  • I hated writing by hand, too.

I had to write more starting in junior high (middle school). This was back in the late 70s. We had an old, non-electric typewriter at home, so, I took typing in seventh grade. For final edit, I'd cut the sheets up and use white out, and then take the taped up mess to a store with a copy machine. That's how I got through high school English classes, too.

Later, when I got into graphic design as a profession, I learned this was common practice, and called "paste up".

  • That's just what they could find. And, doesn't include insider trading tips, or other "perks".

The real number is much, much higher, I have no doubt.

One more reason to support term limits for Congress. Don't let them get entrenched. It's not about age, it's about terms. The problem is how long they stay in office, how old they are is just a by-product of that.

We need term limits for Congress.

  • "Figure out who to do this properly" means a completely different method. What they've built is way, way too expensive for too little return. What they want to do may not even be possible, too little is known about the human mind to assume it is. It's all assumptions and hubris at this point, no proof. Not everything we imagine is possible.

  • Win11 sucks.

  • No, it won't.

I suppose they don't care because the purpose of the laws is not to prevent the printing of guns, that's only the justification.

  • Luigi allegedly used a 3D printed gun.

  • Today, some women have very masculine features. You can find some of them on fashion show runways, for whatever reason.

This, by chance, is a skull with such features. This doesn't mean all women then had masculine features, the same way not all women today do.

  • Maybe it's better not to publically focus too much attention on why someone kills themselves. People on the edge with the same problems might be prompted to do the same. I dunno, I'm just guessing.

  • A picture similar to this one was on one of my high school text books. Inside the cover was a description of it as magnetic core computer memory. For quite a long time I thought this is what computer chips looked like. The only issue was I was in high school in the 80s, long after such memory was used. Maybe the text book was 15 years old, I don't know.

  • Finally found some good news this morning.

  • Did he, you know, say anything back?

    Assholes.

  • True.

Today, we're lucky to get half that. Eight is more common.

  • I have a couple of 8-port Gigabit Netgear switches that have been working perfectly for about 15 years, now.

I sort-of forget about them. They just work. It's nice.

  • So, now you're waiting till Christmas? Or, will you end up with two of them?

  • DAE...

  • At home, I mostly read on my tablet. On vacation, I read on my phone. I travel light, very light. One small backpack, that's all I take no matter how long, or where I'm going. I learned how many years ago when I was a backpacker, and I had to carry everything I needed for two weeks on my back. You really don't need very much, especially if you're staying in a hotel somewhere.

  • Source?

    I wanna hear it.

  • It's like filibustering, in a way. I suspect the laws around this wouldn't change since both sides can take advantage of them equally.

We could mitigate this if we demanded term limits for Congress. Politicians who consolidate power over decades, and hold office for life would be gone. We'd get the same churn we get with Presidents.

  • I'm 60. At age 45 I decided to make staying healthy a priority and started learning to take better care of myself. I've avoided the aches and pains others report for the most part.

Most everything else said here tracks for me, though.

When things seem less than ideal, I remind myself that there's only one alternative to growing old, and I go out for a walk.
