  • I agree. I don't think we have to push people into using some truly revolutionary tech. Then it would not be revolutionary.

    The thing that frustrates me most about AI is that the companies that use AI in their software have ZERO creativity. A lot of applications and operating systems could have had AI in a lot of very narrow usecases. Everything from suggesting which command you should complete in the terminal, to where you should put your file for good organization.

    I do know that AI is becoming synonymous with LLMs, and ML would be better for many usecases. The difference is that using LLMs is super easy for it, even if not as good.

    Instead, we have this ridiculous thing in which we're supposed to remove the human part. That goes for art, music, and writing text. I think it's quite disrespectful to send messages to family, friends and colleagues that are written by AI, with few exceptions.

  • I like this. I want to be able to quickly test the product and if I like it, I make an account afterwards with my email. So I've recently been trying a lot of API services for various things and being able to test it quickly and then just delete my account. I see that as a win. Should have email also

  • While this might seem like a win, I am not sure if I want an AI free browser. This might be an unpopular take, but there are a lot of applications where AI is actually useful. And I'm unsure if hand waving it entirely away is an actually good thing. And if they ever include some minor AI thing, people will call this lbacktracking. Maybe not a good idea?

  • Disclaimer: I am cishet, so I might be ignorant.

    The hard dilemma many of them are placed in is being unhappy and living as a cis, or potentially being happy by living as their true self. Unfortunately many choose the first option because the latter is believed to be worse. This is how it has been until quite recently. They are basically caught between two bad situations. In which one MIGHT be better.

    Some people talk about how some people regret gender affirming care, and want to reverse it. This is something that is sometimes done, not as a result of actually being cis, but because they believe it is easier than being openly trans. It is incredibly sad to think about.

    All society have to do is not give a fuck, and they would be able to be themselves. Instead so many people are being forced to live unhappy lives. Just because we could not give a fuck about something that does not affect us.

  • Yes, often. I do however struggle finding nuance sometimes. I am a very curious person by nature, and want to learn and explore tech. Anything related to AI is almost completely hopeless here. I see it as a tool and so far it has been quite useful for me in many regards. There is lots of problems with it, but I prefer philosophical discussions about it, and learning of its potential uses. Ways of broadening my horizon. I have heard all the anti-AI arguments thousands of times, and agree with most of them. I do also see its value.

  • It is off. The US empire is falling, and falling fast. They are lashing out in all directions, and hurting almost everyone. People credit Trump too much for the chaos, that is really frustrating. Yes, he has a lot of power to do idiotic things, but there is an armada of people controlling things and contributing here. Trump is mostly the facade. Never forget that Americans wanted this. They knew what he was, but they still voted for the republican fascists.

    The same authoritarian development is happening in a lot of democracies at the moment. It's honestly very worrying. I also feel quite powerless.

    And also an agreement to make it harder to leave during conflict. Which is something both parties agree to when not in a very emotional state.

    Making it harder to leave is controversial, since it in practice goes against consent and the wishes of either party during conflict. Since sex can't be forced in marriage anymore (luckily), marriage is an acceptable practice, in my opinion.

    Force through the use of financial pressure from one party to stay together is in no way acceptable though. Both parties should be willingly in the relationship long term. Financials will however always be a factor, since it is cheaper and more beneficial to be two.
