  • The thing that I hate about self-hosting is that a lot of apps that could just be a plain offline thing are instead being designed to be super bloated server-docker things. Databases are not reasonably portable data formats.

  • Well now I'm not sure. But it's something I've done in both Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas, and I'm pretty sure when I load the save files, my adjusted carry weight is still there.

  • Using the town portal every 15 minutes isn't fun. As I said, Torchlight 2 did it significantly better. Slot-based inventory so you don't have to do the stupid tetris stuff. More space. A pet with their whole own inventory. Then when you're full, just offload the junk to your pet and press a button to have them sell it all in town.

    I can't go back to games like D2 after experiencing that.

  • This is the main thing that drives me away from the majority of isometric action rpgs, like Diablo 2. Insanely too limited inventory space. Also one of the reasons Torchlight 2 is still my go-to even after all these years.

    Like seriously, for a game that sends a veritable flood of interesting loot your way, wtf is this D2?

  • Pretty much anything that doesn't run on foss. Game consoles in particular. When they all started requiring a subscription for basic online functionality, I moved all my gaming to PC and now also those retro bootleg handhelds. Love my Retroid Pocket 5.

  • This is why I lean more toward pc monitors. TV speakers tend to suck anyway, so I like using basic wired pc speakers with them anyway.

  • Nostalgia-bait isn't going to make addictive social media go away, and these devices will probably end up with easily foiled workarounds to get to those services anyway.

    Also, did Commodore even used to make flip phones? I had a legendary indestructible Nokia brick, Motorola flip phones, and one really shitty Samsung flip phone. I'd feel nostalgic for something from them if it had the same design (but not the shitty Samsung phone), not for a pseudo-oldschool actually-it's-just-Android-but-less-functional phone.
