  • I set up ollama on our thinkstation in the lab and I use it for looking up documentation, generating readmes, searching papers, and sometimes coding when I know what to do but don't feel it is worth it to spend time on it myself. So basically the chat with web search.

  • Well, yeah, they have fixed weights and the architecture is inspired literally from a vectorized key-value database structure. What you are describing seem to be recursive self learning, which is essential for adaptation. Consciousness is not even well defined, so I wouldn't bother making sense of it.

  • LLM are based on transformer models, which are in turn based on ANNs. Research on ANNs is part of artificial intelligence. You don't need to be conscious to solve a problem.

    The same goes for your own brain. There is a lot to learn about it, but the consensus is that we can model much of our goal oriented behavior as reward seeking probabilistic agentes.

  • Religion is a political tool made to opress the masses. Catholicism is particularly harmful for sanctifying asceticism.

    They sell this backward idea where suffering and misery is glorified while engaging in pleasure, principally sexual please, is seen as sinful and impure.

    It keeps people from raising against their masters and constantly feeling guilty about themselves for craving sexual satisfaction.

  • You conveniently skipped over the first definition pointing out that art is learnable. Consciousness is not a requirement. Animals, insects, and even natural events create things that feel artistic. AI models imagination as a mix of learned patterns and controlled randomness. I see what it generates as a result of a machine that never experienced the world and yet attempts to recreate observations from it.
