I could randomly say "Killing babies is evil", but that doesn't automatically mean that you support infanticide. This is why we need to abandon this mentality that pleading the 5th is the same thing as admitting guilt. The thing I take issue with is that now that things finally seem to be turning around and there's a chance we might get what we want/need, suddenly there's this effort to ignore the fact that our only chance to take back congressional majorities is in a few months and that the balance of the Senate is still very much up in the air.
So instead of saying Dems don't have the numbers, why not say "this is why it's so important to vote in November"?

He doesn't need direct influence over a senator. He's only demanding proof of life. Either McConnell can give that, or he can't. If he can't, it's because he's dead. If he's alive, then he can give proof of life.
If it comes out that he's been dead and there's been a cover-up, then every co-conspirator involved in that cover up is liable for fraud, which it would be the state attorney's job to prosecute, and potentially US attorneys since it involves a member of Congress.
