  • “You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy”

    “Lots of minorities, huh?”

    “Now I didn’t say that…”

  • Yeah, you’ve gotta go with “risk is our business” if you really want to get results.

  • Buffer time is definitely the episode where I stopped doubting they knew how to handle trek.

Interesting, I almost gave up on the show after the buffer time episode. Watching a Starfleet captain create a timesheet-obsessed toxic work environment made it seem like the show would be too much "The Office in space".

I'm glad I gave it a little more time, though, it definitely picks up for me after the first half-season or so.

  • Halloween: Dracula (1992), Addams Family + Values, Mr. Boogedy + Bride of Boogedy, Hocus Pocus

Christmas: Batman Returns, Die Hard, A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, Mickey’s Christmas Carol

  • We could do it for a lot of captains. Picard and Pike would be the only two that are noble enough it might be less convincing.

  • It’s clear that Riker was able to go on some kind of extended sabbatical while retaining his command, I’m not sure why he chose not to do that?

Picard retired as a protest. A protest sabbatical just wouldn't hit the same.

  • In Picard season 3, Data forgot literally everything a little bit at a time. But Lore remembers it for him.

  • Oops, yeah, thanks. Fixed that.

  • 3 is great fun. Of all the odd numbered films, it’s the one I least understand the disdain for.

  • Eh, it’s just his character arc from TWoK restated. Both Data and Picard have better character bits in Generations.

  • Kirk never turned evil! He just got into an ego-driven power struggle with his old ship's captain, almost derailing a vital mission to save Earth. Then he authorised the creation of a doomsday weapon, which he left unguarded and undefended. Then he tried to fix that mistake by rushing over with a training ship full of cadets, only to get attacked by another old mistake he never kept tabs on. Then he stole that same ship...

    Oh, shit, you're right.

  • TFF feels more like an extended episode of TOS than any other movie. Maybe that's not the best sales pitch for a feature film, but I love it.

  • Had to make room for Riker’s porn folder.

  • Worf, son of Mogh, House of Martok, son of Sergey, House of Rozhenko, bane to the Duras family, slayer of Gowron.

  • I'm kind of dubious that this particular happenstance was intentional, but it's worth noting that Roddenberry was actively queer baiting in the accompanying novelization...

  • Sure, but it was not a given that the spectrum of light would be the defining feature of the first Star Trek film poster.

  • There are two kinds of TOS episodes: the ones that are so historically great you absolutely have to watch them, and the ones that are so iconically bad that you absolutely must experience them.

  • DTI neve caught wind of it

DTI might have orchestrated it. Best way to keep Earth’s timeline on course is to give us a roadmap to follow!
