  • I thought the storytelling in that finale was pretty bad in general, but you’re right that the visuals were spectacular. That wormhole sequence that called back to TMP was absolutely beautiful.

  • I rewatched it a while back, and for the most part it’s a much stronger season than I remembered. The last couple of episodes were frantic and nonsensical enough that it coloured my view of the rest of it.

Still probably agree that it’s the worst season, but it’s not that bad.

  • Everyone looks good in a mullet. It's time society recognized this again.

  • Admit it

  • Oh, well, you know Vulcans. Always ahead of the curve.

  • Admit it

  • Things were different back then. They didn’t discover reversing the polarity until the mid 24th century. Before that as long as you kept your dilithium crystallized and your deflector shields up everyone was happy.

  • Astronaut, pointing his gun.

  • The first film used the TV series' premise to good effect. It uses the TV status quo as a starting point - Cruise wasn't an especially important member of his team. Then we watch the rest die one by one and Cruise is left panicked and on the run. He was never supposed to be a lone wolf and that was the point.

As the films progressed he became more and more a James Bond style superspy, of course, but that first entry will always be the best.

  • And on the Trans category that’s a J’naii right? Wouldn’t that make them be a more fitting representation of A or I?

I think that’s Soren specifically, who was assigned agender at birth but identified as female. So trans suits.

Agreed an Dax, though - definitely pansexual, not a lesbian.

  • It’s ironic that the least gracefully aged TNG cast member happened to be the one who played the ageless android.

  • That was her 22nd century “ancestor,” though, right? Picard was a funny show.

  • I often think how bittersweet it would have been to keep Picard season 3 mostly intact, but have Soji take Data’s place at the helm of the 1701-D in the finale. Instead they just dropped her like she never existed.

  • A purist would know that it’s not Star Trek if Kirk, Spock, and McCoy are not present. We don’t need French men with English accents or William T. Ripoff!

  • Kirk to Pike in SNW's final episode. How did you get your hands on the script so far in advance?

  • Mount ‘im?! Don’t mind if I do.

  • Eh, as far as I’m concerned the series just ends with TLJ. A bit of a downer, but by resetting the playing field to ANH’s dynamic of ragtag rebels vs empire it emphasizes the cyclical nature of violence and resistance in the Star Wars universe. It’s a good enough conclusion on its own.

  • Absolutely agreed, I’ll never understand the hate it gets.

  • I’ll show you my tribble if you show me your stalactite.

  • Nah, Disney hasn't asked for anything to be original in a decade or more.

Edit: four hours later and I just realized The Force Awakens is already about a decade old. 🙃
