  • Thanks. Good to know.

  • No offense, but sounds like you're trading one social media addiction for another. If you're just checking them out, why even make an account? I thought the whole point of the fediverse was to use an account and go across services? I've seen piefed stuff on Lemmy and iirc, mastadon too.

  • Jesus, underhammer lol, like the old guns you'd crank on to chamber, but miniature! Never seen it, and I own some old 1800s stuff too.

  • Never heard of bottles, is it legit?

  • That looks like some AI pistol too. I've never seen anything resembling that style. They used to be flint style but here that doesn't exist. Barrel is way to short for its supposed age. Idk that that finger hold is either... There's so much wrong with this.

  • So does Copilot and Microsoft Copilot 365. I enforce GPOs to ban/remove them, and every couple Windows updates, it reinstalls, and each next day I see my alerts pop up they're back.

  • We're catering too much to the auto industry at this point, it's a stranglehold on the market. Instead of holding these massive companies accountable (coughkiahyundaicough) with theft issues and lacking security systems, now just install kill stitches on everything, and have additional ways to monitor citizens since it'll be always connected smh.

  • Oh no... Is it? I figure they're some small start up from Indiana so hopefully might be more trustworthy. The base model doesn't even have a modem!

Edit: FUCK ME you're right. Bezos funded them so he could compete against Tesla. Jfc. I'm not buying one, ever then.

The same with those Fire TVs auto updating without a network connection, I'm assuming it's using some sort of LoRa radio technology so they're able to still transmit data whether you like it or not! I noticed it on our conference room TV, not hooked up internet at all, but I noticed the fire TV ads were updating. I blocked it on our network via mac address just in case, but I read up on it, and they use a "proprietary technology" so the TV's can still update.

LoRa or WiFi HaLow is my guess since you don't mess a license like HAM, it's low power, inexpensive, etc. Would not be surprised one bit if Amazon is secretly listening without public knowledge. (Maybe too tinfoil hat ish)

Edit 2: what's worse, Slate swapped in a former Amazon exec to be the new CEO. Fucking doing sorry already before even releasing 1 vehicle. They're NOT trustworthy IMO. Maybe they won't have a modem in the base model, but they're probably counting on people opting for technology, and they'll still likely get financial data through the sales process that Bezos and Amazon can capitalize on. There will definitely be some sort of data brokering involved!

  • I wish I had the money to start an open source auto company. Like slate, but with more options.

  • even worse

  • Illinois just banned phones in school. Idk if that's leave in lockers or out of class.

  • We call those tornado sirens now. Wonder if ours function that way 🤔😅

  • Tim Cook will say anything to try and get ahead. First Apple's talking about how good their AI is/will be, but now fears of over-hyped AI spending and data center issues, etc, now he's claims oh and it'll all run locally. Apples typical "we're not the bad guys"

While local LLMs are getting better, I still feel like overall, this will tank battery life, and through several million devices charging, will still use a lot of extra power overall. Plus, a lot of the data center issues falls to training and ingesting information, so, Apple let's the other guys do the heavy lifting for them to seem less evil? Wasn't Apple initially involved with OpenAI when they were a nonprofit and cofunded business? Idk, I still say Apple isn't trustworthy.

  • Enlighten me, what's the Prime minister do then? Is that like a Catholic role (being minister?)? We don't have that in the US, but I know Canada and parts of Europe have them. I guess I've just never really paid attention to the role.

  • Dude stop I just finished dinner 🤢

  • At least half don't even know who that is, and the half of who do aren't informed enough to chime in.

  • Probably under the assumption the data was deleted. But yeah, the fact a typo was missed by all is rough

  • Time to sue Wisconsin police dept for fucking that one up!! The Canadians did their job based on false information!

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

Anyone in the southern Canadian or US Midwest or NE change their furnace filters yet?
