  • Recently I went "woop woop woop woop woop" and a friend thought it was 3 stooges, so I replied "Why not zoidberg??"

  • almost got direct hit by a night tornado while driving home from work. it killed something like 5 or 6 people on the freeway, and the only reason I saw it was because it hit a transformer junction after the freeway which backlit it.

I turned around to avoid an intercept course and sped back down the highway and it then crossed the lake and smashed several whole neighborhoods where friends of mine lived, including my gf at the time.

when I got to the intersection with the freeway there were cars just sitting there at the red light, wind raging and howling, signs swinging back and forth, literal tumbleweed rolling through lmao. ironically it was a cop car reaching the intersection after me that flashed his lights and horns/sirens that made everyone snap out of it and we all ran the red light together.

tried to go back down the original route towards my friends blocks but between downed power lines, chunks of house blocking the roads and emergency services setting up I couldn't get very far.

edit to add uplifting part: one of my friends whose house was destroyed kept parakeets. over a year later, after the rebuild, they were walking their dog and heard chirping from a neighbor's garage. they had taken shelter there and the neighbor was taking care of them, was happy to return them. :)

  • lol O&S? yeah those guys are the bouncers at the souls club, first time's the hardest but it gets easier

  • This is pretty much my PC atp, the only parts of it that are original are the side cover that has been sticker bombed over time and one of the ssds that was worth keeping for extra storage and is now my linux partition drive. Everything else has been replaced at some point including the case, which is the same model as the old one, just with the original side plate bc stickers. I have actually referred to it as the PC of theseus in conversation lmao

  • What kind of metal concert is it if there isn't a guy in a silly costume moshing?? One of my most treasured memories is being in a moshpit and getting decked by a guy in a chicken costume, absolutely folded, only to get dragged to my feet by several others before I even realized I was on the ground. Community, people, community!!

  • My usb audio volume mixer which only has software support for Windows, the folks who made it specify they are available for support but FAQ says that only the windows support will ever be offered. It's simple and does everything I need it to without being cumbersome, has 5 programmable knobs and buttons.

Afaik from what I've looked up there is no way to get usb hardware and win device drivers to interface with software run through wine. Was disappointed because it's honestly such a key part of my setup atp. Not really linux's fault so much as the developers not wanting to deal with it, was a niche limited time thing from a small team so I don't blame them but still a bummer.

  • I'm pretty sure this is why andor flew under the radar/gets mixed reviews. Even with friends who are huge Star wars nerds like me, I get 'but it's boring!' a lot, mostly because it builds up to the climax in each three-episode arc. There isn't necessarily a huge, inexplicable 'OK time for action' scene in every episode just because. To enjoy it you need to be plugged in, absorbing the dialogue and connecting the dots scene to scene to understand how the plot got to the action and why it's important, and if you do you understand the tension buildup. Otherwise it just seems like two episodes of babbling and then some stuff happens, while you're still staring at your phone. At no point do any of the characters stop and explain what's happening before or during an important scene, it's all show-don't-tell. One of my best friends is working on his PhD, super bright guy, huge Star wars nerd. Has all the baby yoda this, clone trooper helmet that. I finally understood when we were watching something on stream once and I'm like "what's that? That noise?" It was his other screen on in the background watching a Twitch stream :( now I understand he's never not had a second screen going with a stream lmao feel like I'm taking crazy pills. We might as well pipe video of that stupid railway running coin grabber mobile game directly to the cortex of every citizen atp

  • I thought the same thing immediately lmao fnv radio has a much larger place in my mind. IM GOOOOOOOOOOOIN UNDER

  • Lmao the lazerpig, animarchy et al roundtable have been having a field day with this.

  • Lotta mayo+ contraptions here so I'll add mine, and hard agree with the lemon in handmade tartar sauce it makes all the difference.

Mayo and Cajun seasoning, or if going for more Mediterranean, mayo and greek seasoning if you don't have sub oil, or if you do mayo and sub oil. All great ways to get moisture on a sandwich

  • "You know who also loves heinous_shit_here? That's right, the providers of these goods and services"

Sophie in the background going "nooo Robert, noo no no"

My favorite is when even he is like ooo ya I can't say that, can't say that at all. Anyway, ad break.

  • F the haters, I'd tear this up, almost reminds me of (texas) kolaches just sliced and covered in a sauce.
