  • Since this is not the first time in the past couple days I've seen you post this, genuine question, what are you basing your criteria on?

  • Anecdotal, but from my time in school most people actually did. AP US history was the straw that broke the camel's back for all of the stu-co honors society top 15 kids I had that class with. The most hated class, just absolutely whinging about the sheer onerousness of the exam and study guide. My theory has always been their heads were already full to the brim with memorizing the physics and maths and other classes' materials. History is just too much to memorize and regurgitate like that, it requires thinking, and a lot of it. I came away from that experience with the understanding that a lot of people fucking hate thinking any more than they have to, even (or especially) a-political folks. Loved that class, we had an excellent teacher too. S-tier teacher, really cool guy.

  • Know what's funnier than 24..?

  • Whatever you get make sure it has more than a couple years left of software update support. This sort of narrows the field, and you don't need to go Samsung for the full 5-7years or w/e their newest lines will have, but make sure it's not essentially software EOL in the next couple years. Look for more like 3-5y out.

  • The way this admin wields power reminds me of one of my favorite video game quotes.

"It's not a cudgel you barbarian..." -Cortana

  • I made and posted one about Cincinnatus a while back, giga chad perfect roman simply isn't interested in seizing ultimate power. He'll rather end your ass and go back to his farming

  • Did the shiny suit era ever really end?

  • Are they bringing their slave labor to build it? Or are Americans to be their slave labor?

  • Was this written with AI? The whole point of the video was simply that the original 'paper' about Dyson Spheres was very clearly a joke at the early SETI projects expense, even according to the man who wrote it. You can think whatever you want about the merits of them in a futurist context.

  • As a parts guy, it's always fun trying to explain why the part I ordered OEM from the warehouse came in a Nissan or Toyota bag instead of GM for ex. A lot of it is that they use the same lists of manufacturers and suppliers for their parts and so it's often just cheaper to use an existing design for a seemingly insignificant part that is already in production. Think little bushings and things like relays. Ofc things go bad and when they do it's not clear to the consumer why they're being sold "this cheap Chinese crap" instead of their vaunted 'OEM' garbage. They just don't get it.

  • This is just people being inconsiderate in general, and whether it's in an aisle or on the road I think the sentiment is the same. I wish people would notice others around them more. We'd have to have a much more empathetic culture for that tho :/

  • Didn't the German commies sell the actual German socialists down the river by supporting the Nazis?

  • Someone mentioned Kolashanpan, I'll also throw Vimto in the mix. Both drinks of the gods.

  • How about honeysuckle vs trumpet vine? Both grow like hell, invasively, where I live. One is a tasty and pleasant treat when flowering. The other is just.. there, growing. A lot.

  • I actually really enjoy translating the whole comments pages sometimes if I get the meme through context clues, can't tell if things get lost in translation or German humor is just really odd though..

  • I'm biased bc I played oboe in school band but it's true, a really great sounding oboe goes totally unappreciated. I was asked to do the solo to "Kiss from a Rose" or w/e by Seal and that had probably one of the only mainstream music oboe solos. Sadly the singer went with a different song before the show.
