just me

  • sigh

  • i'm really not enraged, not even close to that. i'm calmly bewildered by your far-reaching thought process

it's you who picked a hypertechnicality ("property of their parents" who btw. aren't the ones making the kid do work here? it's the school doing that, in case you forgot) to be mad about

  • then go ask an ethics board of your nearby university their opinion, see how many people actually agree with your overtly exaggerated understanding of "child slavery". because holy shit man, i'm a leftist, so far left i'm an anarchist, i'm all for freedom and consent, and even by my standards what you're saying is just– wild

  • the definition part of the definition is the paragraph next to "1." the bullet points below it are examples of how it applies. you provided that definition, are you telling me that on top of not understanding the meaning of "and" you also failed to understand the formatting itself?

  • genuinely, how old are you?

if your child doesn't want to brush their teeth, are you going to insist that their personal freedom is the most important thing and let their dental hygiene suffer? that forcing them to brush their teeth is somehow slavery? (as small as it is, it is work after all)

it's 15h a semester, a kid can do ~1h of helping out around the neighbourhood a week and pass easily. oh no! a child is being made to help people for an hour a week! learning the benefits of helping and gaining experience doing small tasks! literally slavery!

you gotta touch some grass buddy, smell the flowers, talk with parents, talk with teachers, relax

  • maybe if you did yours you'd understand that "and" means both conditions need to be fulfilled for a statement to be true. so how is that child considered a property of anyone in this situation?

  • which is doubly so sad because rats don't even live that long :( if an experiment lasts 1,5 years an average rat will only live for 6 more months. a rat retirement home wouldn't even be a big commitment

  • do you think homework is slavery too?

  • it's to teach children (and their parents) how to volunteer and where, by assigning public service to the kids. it's not called public service because volunteering is what it will be once the teaching is done, it's avoiding confusion of teaching something that is called another word after you finish school

i think you might be overreacting a little bit

  • apparently AI often uses the long dash — and people began associating it with AI generated text. which tbf, valid, i only know where it is on my mobile keyboard and i ain't writing anything longer than 3 paragraphs on a phone,

  • not everything is made for you

  • the context is the real life situation that OP experiences, i also have experienced that and find the joke funny, but it doesn't have to be funny to everyone. you are simply not the target audience

  • humans, sometimes

  • it's perfectly comprehensible to me

someone's girlfriend sits on her phone 24/7, but somehow consistently fails to pick up a call when her partner calls to double check something on the grocery list, with the joke being that her phone disappears into a black hole when that happens

  • i don't know if it was intentional, but one of Expedition 33's endings gave me vibes of that story

  • i recently read through the series and now i only have the last short story left– and i don't want to finish it becuase then it'll be over :(

so few authors manage to make me sad this way

  • i don't think a wheel with 20 forks in it would work very well

  • time to re-introduce the good old reliable pats pockets fuck

  • keep it up, i, a random stranger, am proud of you! :) there's better little treats for you out there!
