    But hey, they get to come here and comment smugly about Linux. Meanwhile, I haven't read a single article talking about an issue I've actually seen, at home or office.

  • Gods I know. Bear wandered in the dog door while I was on vacation. My 18-yo friend watching the place had me laughing my ass off at the situation. Needed that as I had just seen my mom for the last time, dying of COVID.

    Wasn't so funny after I talked to the state bear biologist and the contractor that worked for her. He set a snare in my yard, big trailer with a trap door. He was sad, biologist was sad, I was sad, but that's how it has to go once a bear wanders in a home. Contractor went door-to-door begging people to lock their trash cans so this kind of thing doesn't have to happen.

    Yes, I thought about sabotaging the trap, but he had a trail cam on 4G recording 24x7. I might still have freed that bear if he had shown up. Anyway, kept 3 shotguns within reach for a year behind that mess. (I have a pet pig to defend that apparently the bear was after for dinner.)

    He got away! Never came back thank god.

  • I often wonder if black bears didn't evolve to be less threatening since humans came to North America. They're widespread and common and no one is trying to wipe them out. Ran into one with her two cubs and she bolted away.

  • Oh I get it, clear as day. Trump's dying in front of our eyes with frontotemporal dementia, and god knows what else. Not to mention the Epstein files scandals. Once Trump is dead, the cult collapses. Anyone, like Vance, trying to step into his shoes get ALL the blame for ALL the things.

    tl;dr: She is wisely getting ahead on the coming crash.

  • AI is riding the surface of a monster bubble and anyone gleefully waiting for the pop has no idea what that's going to do the US economy, and then everyone elses.

    All but 1% of US economic growth last year was AI development and speculation. Combine that with the US passing, for the first time, 200%+ on the Buffett Index and we are screwed.

    For reference, the Buffett Index is total stock market valuation vs. GDP. There is better than twice the dollars in the stock market than we produce in a year. The index was around 130% in 1929 and 2008.
