Sci-fi

I live for 90s TV sitcoms

  • You can steal from regular people no problem, but he fucked up and decided to steal from the rich. Straight to jail.

  • No, Ariana is beyond opinion. You can literally count her ribs. I literally cringe every time I see her. It's beyond attractive or unattractive, she simply is not healthy.

  • The worst part about electron is that there is no way for it to share resources like a browser. You have to oacjage the whole version together, when really should should have been more like a pwa. Instead you have 10 electron instances, running with 10x the respurce needs.

  • That can't be an efficient way to smuggle.

  • hm this name I heard before, this one I don't know. I'll just vote for the same person.

    or not vote at all

  • Hey now, I've been producing clean turds for years. Should mean you're just about ready to eat them right?

  • A Monty burns style sunblocker seems about on par with what they would do next

  • Sure but how does that help the business world? Having happier healthier people that stay working age longer so they can take more wages? No! No wage! O ly work!

  • I've definitely noticed that. Deadlines are extreme now, there's no research, it's just ship it now. There's no overhead. In 10 years the business side has taken complete control with no regard for the process, and AI only amplified that.

Seniors like me are being burned out, and the juniors don't have enough experience to handle what business is throwing now. There will be a reckoning in the field I think as companies lose that experience.

  • I can hear my dad yelling

CLOSE THE GODDAMN DOOR IM NOT PAYING TO COOL THE OUTSIDE

    Ah, childhood.

  • Amazing how they lament about (unfounded) low birthrates, when then they turn around and do stuff like recommending against vaccines. As a childless person, why would I want to have one right now?

No child care, pure blindness to science, abortion rights eroding (which if something goes wrong, yes that matters and makes me less likely to have a child), school shootings, defunding education.

    As George Carlin said:

They're all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're fucked Conservatives don't give a shit about you until you reach "military age". Then they think you are just fine. Just what they've been looking for. Conservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers.

  • I never understood how they were so deluded into thinking it was permanent. Sure we didn't know how long it would last but we knew it wasn't permanent.

CEO of zoom was legit shocked when their stock normalized.

  • Got frigate set up, more mature than I expected!

  • I've learned it really depends on the device. It's completely a mixed bag, and that's why I can't trust it. Half the time it lasts over a decade, the other half less than a year.

For example, I got their "Enterprise" Switch 8 PoE with 2 SFP+ ports. I plugged it in in my garage, where it was 50 degrees (F) at the time, and it overheated. I googled it, apparently the SFP ports simply overheat. Turns out while it has a fan, it doesn't turn on and simply overheats because they "Didn't want a noisy fan on someone's desk". Which... uh, doesn't matter if it doesn't work. Their enterprise term means nothing.

That being said, my rackmount switches have been solid, oldest one is 10 years old. However that unknown makes it hard to justify purchasing new equipment.

  • I never even thought about Aqara, I have a lot of their things already. Do I need an NVR or something with that?

  • Really?? Is that all? Best I can think is that the transformer doesn't really protect the device at all, I'm guessing there was a surge at some point

  • How do you use Reolink? I've heard other people mention it, meaning do you need an NVR, or HomeAssistant, does it work in Unifi, curious how you use it

  • I worked on ad stuff for a very short time where they could tell if they showed you an ad a year ago, and another one, and then if you went to a store, that it was all connected. They would know if you went into a store with presence detection that their ad was working.

  • I will never understand how a company isn't able to say a simple "sorry, we got it wrong".

That whole thing could have been prevented if that Brock guy hadn't tried to act tough and cross his arms trying to scare him. He could have said "This is hard, I'm not aware of this, but obviously you have a contract here. I'll show you I have the inventory, and tell you what going forward I'll keep a special note when anything is sold, but it's obvious we aren't going to be able to solve this just the two of us here. Let me contact the previous owner and see if we can figure this out."
