  • I also don't agree with the killer games thing, but humans are very adaptable as a species.

    Normally that's a good thing, but in a case like this exposure to something shocking or upsetting can make it less shocking or upsetting over time (obviously not in every case). So, if AI is being used for something like this and being reported on isn't it possible that people might slowly get desensitized to it over time?

  • Yes, but how is the AI making the images or videos? It has to be trained on SOMETHING.

    So, regardless of direct harm or not, harm is done at some point in the process and it needs to be stopped before it slips and gets worse because people "get used to" it.

  • DNS blocking (such as AdGuard) doesn't work for everything. Ad blocking extensions are the only way to block YouTube ads in your browser as far as I know.

  • A Firefox fork like IronFox with an aggressive adblocker setup like uBlock Origin in medium mode blocks paywalls and all kinds of annoying popups on most sites. Takes a bit of tweaking to not break some sites, but after that it's amazing.

  • So, I'm using IronFox on Android with uBlock Origin on medium mode. Not an ad or other problem to be seen on that site. On Windows I use LibreWolf with the same uBlock setup.

    These are aggressive setups that can break some sites, but after a while of tweaking it carefully you don't notice it's there anymore.

  • You see stuff like this a lot with Chinese videos. I recently saw an electric supercar type vehicle from them jump potholes automatically at high speed as if it was nothing. Just keeps driving with zero wobble or death after landing.

    Most countries would grab onto something like this for some free propaganda.
