I think one thing that would help someone depressed is to be with them and not expect them to have energy to reach out (And also respecting what they want). Of course considering ones own mental resources and not burning yourself out. And supporting them in getting help.
Everyone has their own reasons for being depressed, sometimes unknown even to themselves. Another thing that would help is to support the depressed person in working towards solution to their reason, if its something you can help with. Or helping them find something else that can help.
Just dont wear yourself out, then you cant help anyone. The professionals should do the "heavy lifting" but one can be there in someones life to support.
Imo its better to help few people a lot than help many people a little. (helping someone personally vs answering phone, but hotlines are important too. They just treat the symptoms though)
i wonder how we could behave to hasten the collapse. Like, start making even more unreasonable expectations on what llm can do so people get even more disappointed when they cant deliver. Or something else.
Convincing people that llm is bad doesnt seem to work if they already have positive opinion about it, but if they instead feel betrayed by the company that provides them their magic machines then in best case scenario they might become more critical towards corporations as a whole.
at this point, i have quite bleak view on anyone buying anything from sony. those people are effectively supporting this shit, which may spread elsewhere.
you know, way how america interferes with competition kind of reminds me of communism. Of course not exactly the same, but the what is allowed and what is not works in kind of similar way. The rich elite are even the "communist party" that runs things.
they dont get fines that matter though, otherwise they wouldnt act like they are just cost of doing business.
fine for breaking law for big corporation should be big they are actually scared of getting fined.
And company being able to to evade punishment via intermediary is not right either.
breaking the law should mean they get left behind by competitors
if they cant be punished globally, they cant be made to obey local laws. Kind of like if you could do crimes in one country and just leave after heat gets too bad. For us, interpol will go after you.
any mention of "waiving your rights" should always automatically be null, no matter who it concerns.
by definition it places the corporation above the law. Might as well let corporations authorize people to kill, steal and do other crimes if that is allowed.
we need global capital punishment for corporations
that information is as good as gone if its in the hands of corporation while they destroy the original.
also, you cant get the original info back from the training data, what they are doing is kind of like putting the information in a blender.
and since they destroy the original books, no one else can have them. They also destroy piece of history since physical book is immutable while digital information can be tampered with. With rare books its possible they are destroying the last copy of the book, no way to know for sure.
And i'm already beyond pissed that they use others work for profit. It has already been demonstrated that corporations are above any law, as long as they can manage their bribes and connections.
You should trust corporations as much as you would a demon if demons were real.
this is definitely against their interests, unless they just plan on having people watch ads everytime they open a video, watch that video for like 1 second and go to next and watch more ads. There is no depth of depravity i wont put past corporation executives, so that feels very plausible how they think and how detached they are from humans.
It could even be prelude to some other even more horrible, like they start gatekeeping actually decent stuff with premium aggressively.
We should really start archiving the good content of youtube more, just in case..
I would too, but i dont have that much extra harddrive space and i dont have energy enough to start learning to build a personal storage system that is secure and fault resistant.
stupid people are going to kill us all, maybe our great filter will be do we let them or not
