  • maybe they are bitter because they cant live forever and want to take us out. Make as much money out of us as they can, live lavish life and leave everything in ruins after they are done. If we let them, we deserve it. But i dont think we should let them.

Anyone that can should do at least some act of resistance, even if it feels meaningless. Throwing a fucking rock at datacenter physically affects nothing, but symbolically it has value. Imagine 100 people throwin a rock at datacenter, while still likely doenst do anything it would be big message to everyone else. Though it would likely also result in getting into trouble, so everyone should also do some risk evaluation what they can get away with. But simple graffitti could also be effective or even just plain speaking your mind loudly about things.

And most importantly, what the enemy fears most is our unity. So everyone should definitely do everything they can to improve that. Together we stand, separated we die.

  • people who wibecode are not coders, they generally have no idea what the text does that the llm spouts to them.

  • anyone can inform the authorities, and should they continue to ignore then that is clear next goal of the campaign -> removal of corrupt officials that dont care about the law.

  • same

  • why stop there? they should add minutes of metal screeching at max volume on random places and make new super premium that lets you skip that too. the possibilities are infinite!

  • Forsooth!

  • it sounds insane though, replace the "ai" with anything else and it would effectively be like telling you to waste companys money as much as possible

  • sunvox

  • why remove them at all? its not like they are getting any real consequences for anything they do

  • if they ever thought that way in the first place

  • also effectively wasting planets resources

  • i wonder how easy it would be to build something that can reach the orbit and collide with the damn thing to deorbit it, if this nightmare ever becomes reality

  • these corporations should be heavily fined and money used to mitigate the harm they cause.

  • you seriously underestimate how badly SO MANY people understand anything technological. Getting the pc on and logging in is probably an achievement to some. And so many seem completely incapable of learning or even being curious about how things work. They wouldnt understand to "not keep history" or even that there might be settings to the thing. And add some mental illness to the mix and you get complete disaster.

All they see is a thing that responds to what they write in intelligent seeming way and that is enough to convince them that its completely sentient, some probably doubt the people who keep telling them that its not. Maybe some even think they are being lied to when told llm isnt sentient. Even if you added some mandatory notification that tells that llm isnt sentient, some still wouldnt believe it.

  • shouldnt crazy people be protected from hurting themselves? dont they deserve to live too?

  • llm isnt a book. its something completely new and comparing it to things like that just isnt correct. book cant adapt to the reader.

  • doesnt matter what the "intention" was, the point stands that this happened. You can steer the bot to say literally anything, so even if there is no grand plan to brainwash people it could still happen. Kind of same difference as having someone plant a bomb or a minefield.

In fact, if someone is prone to thinking that way, the llm would definitely support whatever delusion they have at some point, especially if the person keeps insisting.

  • to the core!
