Like for reddit, make even more posts no visible to those who are not logged in, have premium members be even more exclusive and away from the view. That should be a decent blow to any new people considering to join there since why would they want to do it if they cant even see what is there. And lets say they do it anyway and maybe even pay something, they will just get shit that isnt worth their money or they are kind of people that make it even worse place.

it could be sold to the crazier users as a way for them to be oh so exclusive and vip users so they would join in too. The executives would likely be extatic to see people demand same kind of shit they would want to put in anyway.

I dont know enough about facebook or shitter to have any ideas how to make them even worse, but for sure there is room there too.

why would they? the telemetry, spying and bloatware is the whole idea for them. At least for regular users. We are the product and the data they harvest from us and ads they force on us is the point. And why would they care, majority of people just sticks with whatever was presented to them first. No matter how much bloat and spyware they add, majority will never care enough to do anything about it because it doenst directly affect them beyond slowing the computer down, which they think will be solved by buying a new one.

i wonder if its severe lack of metacognition. They have heard some awful things from somewhere, maybe some hateful news channel or some person who seems okay to them but also spouts hate occasionally. And then they internalize it without even knowing what is happening because they can't question their own thoughts. Metacognition seems to be kind of like immune system for the mind, at least that is how I see it.

Its quite ironic how some rave against "woke" when they themselves are essentially asleep. At least personally i consider woke to mean that you are actually aware of stuff. Maybe that is the reason the truely wicked people went so hard on demonizing the whole thing. They could lose everything if enough people "woke up". Even more ironic how they also talk about stuff like "mind viruses", when they essentially are about as well in the head as plague zombie is physically. But then again, every accusation from certain kind of people is a confession. The source where all that shit stems from is likely very aware how much their methods resemble how virus works.

Ultimately, no I dont think it was on purpose. Though there are some scenarios where it would make sense but personally I dont see enough evidence to support those scenarios. I doubt it was even accidental release.

If it was on purpose, then it was likely supposed to be a bioweapon. But it affected the country that the biolab functioned in REALLY badly. So unless the purpose was to cull the population there and maybe use that as cover to cause damage to rest of the world too I dont think it was on purpose. Also I doubt china would let foreign controlled viral biolab exist, so foreign influence is also quite remote possibilty. Foreign sabotage is plausible though but there is no way to even speculate about that. But if that was the case, i think china would be much more irate about things(and i dont think anyone could pull something like that without leaving ANY traces for chinese intelligence agencies to even suspect).

So the on purpose scenario would require that complete psychopats with taste for blood are in charge, accidental release of bioweapon scenario would mean complete idiots are in charge. One would imply more would follow, another that either idiots are no longer in charge or also more would follow.

There is also possibility of commercial reason; develop a virus, release it and sell cure for it. I think the "shareholders" wouldn't let the disease to fade away this much, or become more mild. I'm not sure how fast they did develop vaccines for it though. If its simply not possible to go from 0 to something that can be distributed to masses so fast, then some work would have had been done even before the outbreak. But I think there would have been at least some hints at some point, cant keep stuff like this 100% secret forever.

at this point i'm beyond being afraid. i just plain dont care anymore, maybe we even deserve what is coming for letting it happen

yea, though those games are not worth playing anyway. who knows what they do in the background, with root access they can hide it too.

and with steam one can play even non-steam games that are "windows only" by adding non-steam game. Proton works for those too.
