  • It's illegal to drive in slippers in certain countries, afaik. Slippers can.. um.. slip? Or whatever, they don't offer the same amount of control, that's for sure. Irrelevant 99.9% of the time, but for that 0.01%..

  • Yeah, keep replying, that'll definitely prove that you don't give a fuck. Also pretty telling if that's the only point you can argue against.

  • "get this through your fucking head".. lmao.. you'd have a bit more credibility if you weren't wrong out of the gate about the "no name on bluesky".. and the Carano thing... and if you weren't cursing just because people disagree with you... And if you weren't a no name on lemmy... Thanks but.. for now I'll go with the journalist

You are right about one thing, tho, I'll give you that. Advertisers have a lot more power than me and you. But not all of us together. Sure, getting a ton of people to agree on one thing is hard, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. That's what they want you do. To be little obedient little sheep that think they can't do anything.

  • Disney has over 200k employees. Is it really that much of a stretch that one of them talked to a journalist? I'm not an accountant.. haven't ever talked to one that handles my workplace, but I still know how much money we're making and how much other branches of the same company are making and what the drama in the other places is and so so much more.. people talk... It's that's easy.

And even if it's a lie.. Is the 4B drop from disney also a lie? Is the fact that they promptly brought him back also a lie? The fact the first show after his return was watched by 3 times the normal amount of people? The number might be real or it might not, that's how journalists' sources work, but it's accurate that the boycott worked. Even if there were only 10k people, it still had a visible effect. That's what matters.

  • I think people are jumping to the beating part but ignoring the rest. The thought process usually goes like "wow, my parents would've spanked me for doing that.. but they're not doing anything!"

It's not about the beating. It's about the kid being allowed to do whatever without any action from the parent. Because that's usually how it goes when a kid is being a nuisance.

  • I meant more in the sense that every decision you make needs to at the very least take the kid into consideration. When you have a kid it makes everything more expensive, it changes where and how you go on holiday, it changes where and how you go out to eat, etc. When you change careers you risk leaving a kid homeless, not just yourself. When you move to a different country you're forcing that kid to adapt, not just yourself. Etc.

  • Yeah, that's fair. We need better education across the board. Should be everyone's main focus.

  • Okay, yeah, I see what you mean. I was thinking on the scale of this thread not the whole sociological perspective. And you're right, they were probably not thinking of adoption like I was. Altho to link it to a guy who endorses the forced extinction of all life on Earth is a bit of a stretch, imo. Those people don't care about overpopulation... they would think that even if there were only 100 million of us on earth.

There's a difference between saying that more people should use contraceptives and promoting genocide, imo.

  • Which part? I agree with both. If you decide to have a kid, you should do your best to be there for them and help them be the best that they can be. You don't really get to stay in bed late anymore if the kid is hungry. You have to do what's best for them, not what you want anymore.

As for the "too many humans" part, I don't really feel ready for a kid but if I were, I'd rather adopt. I don't need the kid to look like me and that way you make the world a little better.

  • All that, plus the fact that if you're gonna pirate, private trackers are better and safer. And in that case you need to seed. And besides, if everyone switches to debrid and nobody seeds anymore, who are you going to leech from?

  • I know right? They're gonna renew it until it is no longer profitable

  • Decided to try one of the less political articles to see what it'd look like.

One expert observes that "every school shooter has been heavily immersed in violent first person shooter games."[1] Many bright futures of young men are destroyed by video game habits, and video games even cause harmful increases in blood sugar in players.[2] Video games are addictive, train young mass murderers, and promote liberal talking points or ideas.

That's one of the first things it says. Then it goes on to talk about promoting homosexuality and some more bullshit. Good stuff...

  • See what I mean? Ad hominems instead of just admitting anything. Keep insisting there's only 6 sentences there, that'll make it true. It definitely helped China some.

  • I imagine that would've been horrible for most people involved. But at the same time.. yeah, metal as fuck.
