  • You think you're getting into a fun sex thing.

What you're getting is tied down and forced to watch the extended editions of Lord of the Rings.

  • "The man in black fled into the desert, and the gunslinger followed"

    • opening line for the Dark Tower novels by Stephen King, which is an absolutely phenomenal series that blends western and sci-fi elements with just a tad of fantasy and horror for flavor.
  • Food is so expensive. I'll be like I'm going to cut back and save money this week, so no meat, no fresh fruits or veggies, no snacks, no prepared meals and only 1 meal a day this week. I'll leave the grocery store with one small bag of food and a $85 bill and I'm scratching my head going "how the fuck?" It feels like no matter what I buy it all costs the same

  • "Looking to protect yourself, or deal some damage?"

  • Kajiit has wares...

  • I think the earth is going to metaphorically say enough is enough and step in to fix climate change because humans are too selfish and greedy to do it ourselves. I think this is going to come by way of a massive volcanic eruption that causes short term global cooling while killing a good chunk of the population across a large geographical area both from the immediate disaster and the resulting long term damage from widespread ash/famine that could result.

  • I mix it with applesauce. Doesn't make it great, but it goes down way easier than water.

The other night I made pancakes for dinner because I was tired, hungry, and lazy, and the bag of psyllium husk powder happened to be sitting on my counter so I decided to add a spoonful to my pancake mix to get some extra fiber. It worked out pretty good, I could taste it, but just barely (I also had added blueberries and chocolate chips, so they probably helped mask any unpleasant flavors and textures)

  • Critter is adorable!

My first cat was also a stray kitten that my ex rescued. He was 2 pounds and completely stretched out was barely longer my forearm. The first time my Dad saw him he said "look at the paws on him, he's going to be massive"

The best part about having a cat that is 17 pounds of muscle and long legs is that there's so much of him to cuddle and hug, and he loves cuddles and hugs. The worst part is that when he decides to sit on my chest at 4 am, slap me repeatedly across the face, and scream for breakfast, it takes a surprisingly large amount of effort to get him off.

Consider yourself warned, and may you have many cuddles ahead of you.

  • I'm picky. Some are ok, some just weird me out. I think it really just depends how close they get to portraying the human figure, when they start intentionally skewing proportions and making features anatomically impossible it's just creepy for some reason. If it's not a human character or if it's still sort of realistic to normal proportions it usually is fine.

  • Personally, it's the art form I don't like. I couldn't say why, but there's something about the style of drawing people that I just can't get past.

I accept that I'm in the minority, and I'm not criticizing it or talking down on it in any way. I understand there's an incredible amount of love and talent that goes into it, it's just not for me. Think of it as someone who says they don't like the Mona Lisa, they aren't saying it isn't a famous painting or shouldn't be well known, they're just saying they prefer other styles of art.

  • Not liking anime is so isolating as a nerd because people find out I'm into nerdy stuff and all they want to do is recommend anime to me and talk about anime and I have to explain that I don't like anime and won't be watching that show they love (insert show here).

  • Star Wars. I really wanted to like it, I'm a huge nerd, but I just am not into it. I watched 4 and 5 and got maybe an hour into 6 and got up and walked away. I was so bored with the whole thing.

  • I just want to come back here and thank you for this simple suggestion. It's become my current ADHD obsession food. I've made it probably 6-7 times since reading your comment, and it's so good and so filling. I'll probably obsessively eat it for like another month and then forget it's a meal that exists for 5 more years until I become obsessed with it again, but such is ADHD life 😂

  • I grew up in America in the 90s. We always played in the streets. When a car came you yelled "car!" and everyone skedaddled to the side of the road until it passed. I still see kids playing in the streets occasionally, depending on the neighborhood.

  • Hi me. It's never too late to try. I finally started getting the help I needed, and it was 2 years too late and after I already permanently ruined my chance at something really good that only happens once in a lifetime, but better late than never, right?

  • Good luck! I still have my ovaries and so I still have some pain, but it's so minor compared to what I used to be living with (like a 3-5/10 instead of a 9-10/10 on a daily basis) and not having to deal with bleeding 3 weeks out of the month is life changing.

  • I'm so sorry. I wouldn't wish endo on my worst enemy. It is a hell that anyone who hasn't experienced cannot understand.

My meds were $1300 a month without insurance. It required pre-authorization from the insurance that needed to be redone every 6 months and I could only get 28 days filled at a time, but it only cost me something like $20. The side effects were awful, but not nearly as awful as the alternative.

I'm eternally grateful for the fact that after years of pain and begging dismissive doctors to treat me I found an amazing surgeon who went "why are you still dealing with this when you don't want kids, you want a hysterectomy, I'll do one" and by some miracle my insurance company also approved it without arguing about it. I also got lucky that I had my initial visit just before my employer's year end open enrollment for insurance, so I did the math and figured out that I'd save a lot of money if I switched for the year to the higher premium/low deductible insurance they offered. My entire surgery, pre-surgery labs, pre surgery surgeon visits, prescription and OTC medications, and other little stuff I needed for recovery all cost me less than $1000 total.

The surgery was hands down the best thing that ever happened to me.

  • Possibly the coolest thing about it is that when you complete the "Shire" challenge you are gifted a medal that includes an envelope with The Ring. The medal for completing Mordor has a place to slot The Ring into it, so when you finally make it to Mordor you can "dispose" of it.

  • Have you heard of this?:

I've always wanted to do it someday when I have some disposable income. You track your workouts and it shows you your way across Middle Earth on a map and rewards you with post cards and medals.
