Long term computer programmer, making my own library. American based. Far left politically. Politics centered around promoting use of paper ballots. Follows news about environmental collapse, political corruption in my country, human rights, science and tech.

  • Our Omnibus draws samples entirely from the SSRS Opinion Panel, which has a probability-based recruitment methodology. No one can volunteer or sign up for the SSRS Opinion Panel; members are randomly selected and invited to participate. The panel recruits randomly selected panelists using a nationally-representative address-based sample (ABS) design with a randomly dialed prepaid cell phone supplement (RDD). This reduces the risk of bias and ensures that bots or fraudulent panelists are not recruited.

So, people who answer strange phone numbers. I think 15 years ago that would have been fine. But now, not so much, and I really don’t think this filter is talked about as much as much as I would like.

Try looking for “ssrs scams”, and mixed into that are actual experiences with the survey, by people asking about what they experienced. Also mixed into are the various actual scams that pretend to be legitimate.

A huge percentage of mentally healthy USA adults would not participate

  • Wow, just doing the bare minimum for a legislature is enough to let one grab national headlines.

  • One arm hair in the hand is better than two in the bush

  • “Oh God..”

I first saw this new toolbar a few hours ago, at first I was sort of impressed and thought wow. Then I realized they are trying to make the toolbar an indispensable developer tool, with all the bloat and increased complexity this hints .

Later, I am sure we will have a new simple toolbar to manage the then renamed “Swiss army tool set”, and there will be free and premium versions of the bar.

So naturally I uninstalled the toolbar

  • I think nobody understands exactly how anything works, but enough of us understand our own little corner of tech to make new things and keep the older things going. I’ve been coding for decades, and proudly state I understand about 1% of what I do. This is higher than most

AI will make these little gardens of knowledge smaller for most, and yet again we, as the human species, will forever rely on another layer of tech.

  • I think of all the oppressive governments, giving this medal must be a near universal thing that separates them from other governments.

  • It’s not ideal, and can be abused by the central service later by price increases or probably other things.

But it’s the best a corporate and evil platform can do to legitimize users.

  • OP please do emergency health care! I’m older and have seen people complain of this, I know you say weeks, and not days, but that does not make it better.

  • Does it matter then? I think I will not care what he does later, unless he wiggles into real power

  • Watching the different institutions take sides shows the political fault lines that have built up for more than a generation. It’s sort of pretty, and educational.

Harvard was always old money, and most the older families of the super rich do not support what is happening. They want the old empire back, among other things.

Columbia is more new money, and the politically connected , one will see the more recently wealthy , as a rule, or the older ones who are more opportunistic.

  • Maybe you’re right, or maybe this is not important at all because there are no effective checks.

I’m no legal expert, and I don’t understand many things. But it seems to me if there were effective checks, then others would have applied it already.

My unjustified opinion is that this, if real, is a last gasp by a few patriots who do not see the writing on the wall, and whose actions will largely be forgotten in the chaos to come.

    I hope I’m wrong

  • Additionally, protests that are not law abiding cannot be planned by established accounts, unless they are in places like this, which have zero impact.

Americans literally do not have a way to mass organize anything but legal and lawful activities .

  • Awesome story!

  • The last time I fell for that was the Mueller report.

Show me someone slowly fighting against what is happening and I will show you someone grandstanding, on the take or an idealist out of touch with things

  • If I had a dollar for every possible sign of life, I’d have $2 by now

  • He would be lucky to have that? According to some this is top level federal terrorism charges with capital punishment .

:Not sure if sarcastic or not, confused about current events. Is what I said real or a bad joke? No clue

  • Can’t riot if only go outdoor twice a month to politely protest for part of a day .

Can’t organize riots in social posts.

Small groups of wealthy and influential citizens cannot ask, once more, if you will please riot.

The USA cannot riot at all right now.

    It’s broken

  • I like the bit about managing expectations rather than try to give solid estimates
