  • So a “continue watching” or “new on amazon prime” is an AD now?

You can just move them off the top row and you get no “ads”. Only put stuff with no previews in there.

  • Wtf? Where? I have three and zero ads.

If I select a top row app, that application can “advertise” what’s new on the top half of the screen. That’s it.

  • Apple TV the device has no ads, zero, nada.

  • The person in question was German. Microsoft found suspicious images on their Skydrive and shut down the whole MS account, Xbox and all.

What was it? Pictures of his kids on the beach, which the puritan American algorithm determined as evil

  • Every cloud provider scans their storage, because the law is like that.

People have gotten their MS accounts closed when Onedrive was still called Skydrive due to automated scans finding suspicious activity

  • What ”launcher”? The TV app? You can just move it away. There is no launcher anywhere, every service along with AppleTV+ is just a separate application

  • And Google spyware is all open source?

  • Not at this scale. Remember that Apple is a hardware company first. They make money from hardware and app stores.

Google is the worlds largest ad company who dabble in hardware and services to increase their ad revenue.

  • What? There’s one icon that says “TV”. You can move it to the bottom and you won’t see any apple stuff beyond that.

  • Not a popular answer, but Apple TV is the best out of the box experience. Zero ads, massive longevity. Mine is like 7 years old and still running the latest tvOS.

If you have the cash and inclination, Nvidia Shield is the hackers choice. Zero hardware upgrades in years tho, but software aplenty.

Just don’t let your smart TV access the internet in any situation, there’s no need. It’s just a stupid display.

  • Kagi user for over two years now, can recommend if you’re not against paying for quality search.

  • Yes.

It’s the first TV show with actual character arcs - planned out from the start

Offhand remarks from S1 will realise into actual actions in S4

  • Booksellers “carry” utter shit.

Guess what they do when the book is refunded by the publisher due to bad sales? They cut off the covers and send them back as proof. The pages are destroyed. Nobody bats an eye.

No publisher or bookseller wants to carry 50000 copies of Joe Bob’s “How to cook maggots” when it flopped

Also how do you know if my fanfic is a physical book sold at a store or not? 😀

  • Rare doesn’t automatically imply valuable, useful or anything like that.

My Anthony Fauci x Drowsy Don fanfic is “rare”, but nobody including me would bat an eye if it was destroyed.

  • Jackass and Merge Mansion

Would be a weird ass combo

  • Beginning February 1, 2027, creators who have 10 million qualified Shorts views over the last 90 days will be eligible for ads and subscription revenue sharing on Shorts.

3.3 million views a month isn’t exactly new creator levels

  • And a quick search says that it had a definite ending with no cliffhanger 🥰

  • How can they suck that bad? A 29€ raspberry pi with a basic ML model can get 90% accurate results
