  • Way below, so the good thing is that I have over a bunch of money every month which I sometimes just move to a different account to invest it or something. Therefor I don't really need to manage my expenses, but other than food, I only have traveling as a really big expense like 1-2 times a year.

  • But the point is that this is specifically about the problem without backup, so either we compare apples to apples or bannanas to monkeys.

  • Why doesn't centralized social media without backups have this problem?

  • Old Boy.

  • Sure, both my ex-wife and my wife were single mothers. If you like children you can get friends for life even if the relationship doesn't work out.

  • Would never happen in Japan or Korea.

  • Don't go to the party.

  • I have radicals already and use it for Task.com and also with symbolic links. Thanks, I'll check it out.

  • That's a interesting one, it's quite different but looks very nice.

  • Yes but by far not as much as I would wish we could. We live i n South Korea so anywhere we want to go we have to do it by airplane and with two kids it's getting expensive. We have the financial means but especially my wife can't ever take more than a week off, which is really bad, because visiting my family in Europe isn't really worth is fo a week only.

So we end up in Japan a lot and in China because it's only like 2.5h flight.

  • I'm not sure I understand, tried to google vikings but no Kanban or task management shows up.

  • I always liked chai tea!

  • I don't remember the details but there were several occasions

    1. The sync UX was so confusing that I set it up and deleted things on a unimportant device to make some room and that deleted it everywhere without me realizing it for some time so I lost those things forever. This is where I switched file syning to Syncthing.
    2. I ran it basically without apps only for syncing caldav and carddav and it took so many resources on my server that it constantly brought down the whole vhost with all other unrelated services and the UI was so slow I could only use it through the API from desktop and mobile clients. I then switched to the lightweight Radicals and deleted NextCloud which made space to many new services on the little Hetzner vhost.

I haven't seen self hosting small instances prioritized by NextCloud, I think it probably works very well on a beefy server for a lot of users, similar to Lemmy, but for one user instances it seems to not be well supported.

  • Yeah it looks good from the screenshots but I've been burned by NextCloud in the past a lot and would like to avoid it.

  • Most of my personal Software use is FOSS, with the notable exception of YouTube. I use a FOSS frontend for it (Tubular and Smarttube), but rely on their propriatary server.

Seldom I also use WhatsApp but also with a FOSS frontend (Element) for it.

Oh one more WeChat for my wife's family, and couldn't get the bridge to Element working.

Otherwise some non free JavaScript which is running on websites I visit.
