  • I mean that's the same thing with AI generated content. It's all trained on a wide range of real people, how do you know what's generated isn't depicting an underage person, which is why laws like this are really dangerous.

  • That's the same as saying we shouldn't be able to make videos with murder in them because there is no way to tell if they're real or not.

  • Plex and plexamp is the best music hosting setup I've found too. Users can have their own playlist and there is some smart playlist generation.

They also had (maybe still have) tidal integration.

However, you'll still be relying on other services (probs spotify/etc.) to find new things.

  • This is the issue with current public discourse though. AI has become shorthand for the current GenAI hypecycle, meaning for many AI has become a subset of ML.

  • LLMs are deep learning models that were developed off of multi-head attention/transformer layers. They are absolutely Machine Learning as they use a blend of supervised and unsupervised training (plus some reinforcement learning with some recent developments like DeepSeek).

  • This is just sad

  • And the last check, which is "we the people".

  • Can't wait to find out it was just a guy in a suit.

  • If he really thinks they won't come for his Medicaid, Social Security, and federal pension, he hasn't been paying attention.

Not to mention economic uncertainty can eat into that money in other ways (like increased prices from tarrifs).

  • So for reference, right now more than half the US doesn't pay income tax due to not making enough. With the External Revenue Service, everyone is going to start paying those taxes through higher prices.

So Trumps plan, as is usually the case is to push the tax burden on lower income households and decrease taxes for the wealthy.

  • Working in the field I think there is two things AI will make an impact on:

    • Going after low skill white collar work (basically further automation of semi-skilled labor)
    • Being an excuse to undercut high-skill white collar labor wages.

However, I suspect we'll get a lot of the issues we saw with "outsourcing" where the end result is businesses pursuing cheaper outputs without concern for quality.

  • They're supposed to be, but if the president can remove funding for any reason then they may not be able to follow through on actions dictated by the legislative or judicial.

  • Thanks for jumping in on this. I just think OP has heard DRM bad and not thought about what DRM means. Once youre asking for a service that does everything for you, DRM doesn't really play a role.

I could see an arguement for open playlist formats or something so you could move your account history around, but there is a limit to how useful or practical that would even be.

  • I mean I understand and support DRM free media, but I literally don't understand what OP is asking for. If they don't want to own/manage the music, then what part would be DRM free?

  • How would you define a DRM-free online service? If you aren't managing your own files, why would DRM free matter?

  • He's voted no on a couple of nominees, but he had been the senate republican leader. Not being able to sway more people would lead me to belive he's either on the outs or doesn't care enough.

  • This article is a bit old, they did remove Colleen Shogan as the archivist. While it's an apolitical appointment Trump does have full power over the role which is why this didn't get much attention. However the archives do play an important role in keeping track of presidential records, so not great.

  • You want them to do that regardless of the how the country keeps track of individuals. The point of all that asking is to make sure they have the right patient for the right procedure.

You don't want to have something amputated or removed unless you have to.

  • I mean I could save the US trillions by just shutting everything down, not sure if that results in "savings" though. Suspect there is a reason that money was allocated by congress.
