Yeah Google sucks, didn't want to defend them but the business model in general. Companies should not be allowed to sell data. Them collecting your data as part of their ad business is one thing, but selling it shouldn't be allowed imo.

Companies pay the running cost of YouTube (plus a little bit of pocket money for the creators whose videos you watch) so you can watch free of charge, in exchange for this they get to show you a video. I don't like Google either and rob them of their income by using an adblocker. Though if nobody pays and nobody watches ads they might find even worse ways to pay the bills.
