    The really unfortunate part is that losing to Donald Trump makes a lot of the most vocal Democratic party supporters completely lose their minds and start attacking anyone who tries to have a conversation about why Democratic candidates lose, so, yeah, expect to get a lot of personal attacks and trolling for saying this

    The fact that their material circumstances are so similar probably contributes to how naturally it comes to Obama to normalize Trump by treating him with respect he doesn't deserve at public events like this

  • Being more emphatic about it hasn't been effective and it's not great for my mental health. Things won't get better if we misdiagnose the problem, we need a better Democratic party, complaining about voters just digs the hole we're in deeper.

  • The voter suppression problem is a symptom of the spineless and bought out DNC problem. Dems should be talking about nationwide voting laws and how red states aren't democratic and don't have legitimate rule of law constantly, but that would be too radical and unpredictable for the corps to feel comfortable with, so instead they focus their legislative efforts on just cutting checks to all the state governments for this infrastructure initiative or that climate bill or whatever, which helps assholes like Ron DeSantis and Brian Kemp run the systems of patronage and oppression that keep them in power (also, those checks are eventually ending up in the corps' accounts, so they're happy too).

  • Yeah, most of this seems plausible, except

    I would guess the agents said "We are federal agents"

    That doesn't sound right to me at all, cops don't say "Hi I'm with the government" they're always "This is FBI Agent Smith" or "I'm with Immigration and Customs Enforcement" or "I'm calling to speak to you about an official IRS investigation." I don't understand how "federal agents" is even in their lexicon.

  • Fair enough, looking at some news stories about past death threat incidents it does seem like there's been a number of times where they do arrests and interrogations themselves

  • What kind of threat would the Secret Service be investigating at a random house in Chicago? Like, maybe if someone sent out a death threat to an elected official, but even then isn't that the FBI or local cops jobs?

    Also, a public school turning away the secret service when they say they're investigating a threat just seems incredibly unlikely.

    Also also, how in the world would the school have mistaken secret service agents for ICE agents? Did these agents not identify themselves?

    I think the answer to all of these questions is going to be "the Secret Service is lying their ass off because everyone in the executive branch knows Trump will throw a giant hissy for if he hears that his big mean ICE agents got scared of by a bunch of public school teachers," but I guess we'll see what happens.

    Yep, this really doesn't get repeated often enough around here, but we're going to keep losing to these fascist shitheads so long as those corrupt liberal assholes have a death grip on the party and refuse to let progressive leadership take over. It's been blatantly obvious since 2016 that this was the case but all the propaganda machines for Democratic and Republican party voters have been doing everything they can to hide this very obvious and repeatedly demonstrated fact.
