  • Either way, Republicans being in control of education policy is nonsense. It's not going to matter what reading system they use if they're trying to teach a trans student whose who's being harassed by their state's laws, or a student who is distracted by reasonable fears of being shot, or by hunger because they don't have any food at home. This person could be the most skilled and impassioned champion of education ever but she's never going to be able to help kids Republicans decide are unworthy working for this administration.

    Ultimately, I think that logic is flawed, because what's going on in these individual cases is irrelevant, giving the American government the authority to kill in cold blood in any case was a mistake that has been and will be abused.

    Also, the last three elections in a row at least have all had moderate Dems who refuse to listen to their voters and do whatever their donors want and then go on to lose or barely win against this fascist prick, and I really really really don't want to go through another one of those elections. We need to have a thorough examination of how the Democratic party has been fucking us here and concrete verifiable steps they will take to stop this, otherwise the left is going to remain divided whether or not corporate media is reporting on it.

  • the Fediverse really seems like it could be our response to these fuckers controlling the narrative on social media. It could be more than just an interesting decentralized social media platform. I really think this could be a key step in reclaiming our democracy.

    Agreed, and I would add that finding ways to get nonprofit news organizations (e.g. ProPublica) and public media (e.g. NPR, PBS, etc.) to host and administer their own instances and to start directing their readers/listeners to those services would be a great way to advance this goal
