  • All science is done by humans, and so biases are inevitable. Climate science, and a few other fields like medicine, have big enough vested interests that this needs to be accounted for. The physical scientists think they are safe, but one day a mathematician will discover Polymarket and then they'll understand why climate science journals have a 'conflict of interest' section.

  • A couple of major differences from Reddit are:

    1. Karma does not matter.
    2. Since not all instances recognise each other, what you see will vary wildly depending on your home instance.

Also there is some self-sorting based on preferences and politics. Your instance (lemmy.world), for example, tolerates transphobes and zionists, and so attracts transphobes and zionists. (It may also gets blocked by other instances who don't like this, so you won't be able to see content there even if you personally are fine. This is one of the problems with lemmy.)

  • Unfortunately, OP is in one of the nazi servers.

    1. See which country that source is from.
    2. Fair.
    3. Cluster weapons are dangerous because they disperse a large number of very small warheads, many of which do not explode immediately and can be triggered by civilians, particularly children, finding them and picking them up. The Iranian missiles have fewer, larger warheads, so most of them do explode immediately.
    4. Why?
    1. We trusting Epstein regime media now?
    2. You know who else funds Hamas? Israel.
    3. Technically correct, but my understanding is that the multiple warhead missiles Iran used have larger warheads with a lower failure rate, and so aren't the type of cluster weapons that leave behind unexploded bombs.
    4. Iran had a ban on making nukes. Do you really think Iran couldn't do something North Korea and Israel did decades ago if they wanted to?
  • Lol I know why Israel hates Iran I'm asking where you're getting these conspiracy theories from.

  • Hyenas are cats that pretend to be dogs, so being dicks to prey should be expected.

  • Use comma for delimiter, and escape any comma in the data by enclosing that entry in quotes.

    Data: 225 | 2,500 | 450

    CSV: 225,"2,500",450

  • That song is beautiful but also very haunting.

    negative feeling toward humanity

I don't see it that way. Miyazaki hates what Japan (and his own family) did during WW2, and what Japan did to its environment after the war, but his movies are about creating a better world.

I'm not criticising Tom and Jerry lol. It's very funny when you're a child, and quite well-animated for the time.

    1. Nausicaa (a Ghibli movie, by the way)
    2. Compared to cartoons, I loved the pacing and realism. And, of course, the much more interesting story. (To be fair, the cartoons I am most familiar with are Tom and Jerry and Road Runner, so draw your own conclusions.)
    3. JoJo, naturally. Ghibli movies and Violet Evergarden will probably be the peak of anime, both in terms of animation quality and storytelling. But there are plenty of novel shows, from The Heike Story to Black Lagoon and Tatami Galaxy to Kino's Journey.
    4. Cowboy Bebop has a large following, but I found it too loud and flashy, and didn't really like any of the characters.
  • DOGE fired them.

  • Is this a thing outside the USA?

Yes, most of Asia starts weeks on Sundays.

  • This assumes really good internet infrastructure and still requires some sort of terminal at the user end. Of course, Bezos is a billionaire and so might be dumb enough to believe it himself.

  • Fascists are not constrained by having to respect reality.

  • Your rice cookers have electronics in them?

    Horrors beyond human understanding.
