I guess what my ramble was trying to say is that I didn't even clock it as blackface because it's so "poorly done" that it didn't even come across that way until I read the comment and then stared at it in confusion. I'm not saying that it "doesn't count if AI does it", just that it's a confusing photo.

I'm guessing you mean blackface. But the person doesn't look at all black or even like blackface. There is just some weird tinting effect happening. It's like if someone described what blackface is to a blind person....but while trying to describe it, they had a mouth full of marshmallows

Sorry for my ramble and I hope this isn't offensive to comment. I'm just confused. Is it really even attempting to be blackface?

Idk maybe, but you sound a bit like my coworker. She overthinks shit to death more than anyone else I know. Because the times she doesn't, she thinks this stuff happens, as you say.

And you know what...to some degree it can. But I think the bigger thing is to learn to be ok with the mess. Because you aren't perfect. No one is. More relaxed people seem to be tolerant of a higher degree of "mess" that you are. And they lead much happier lives that way.

I know...easier said than done. And the "mess" can be scary and unpleasant. But learning to let go can really do wonders for mental health.

I don't know. I feel like I had that mentality for a while, actually. It led to an increase amount of background stress which would then increase exponentially when I would "fail".

Letting go of that mentality helped me to be a lot more at peace. Don't get me wrong, it still creeps back up from time to time. I'm only human, after all.

But life isn't a series of fails and wins. Life just is. Events occur. Some bring us up a bit and some bring us down a bit. You can't control everything about the universe. Things happen. Time passes. You do the best you can in life and see what events will unfold. Be gentle to yourself when negative things happen. You can't control everything. You are a human being, not a robot. Not a deity.

Or maybe landing on a specific psych med helped me a bit too idk.

I built a whole ass cat wall for mine and he has never ever used it. I used to try to coax him up with treats and he would just go eat the treat and then come back down.

I'm contemplating taking the thing off the wall but then I'll have a bunch of holes in the wall.

My cat is broken. He only likes to sit out in the open on couches and chairs!!

I recently adopted a singular adult cat and the process went very smooth and not pushy or weird at all. I went to a "cat cafe" which essentially showed cats from the local shelter. Maybe that's why my experience was so pleasant.

I did visit an actual shelter prior to that and I didn't have anyone hassling me, but I didn't dive into the adoption process there. Actually, I spoke to one of the employees and told them I was concerned at adopting a pet as a single person who leaves the home to work every day about the pet possibly being lonely when I'm at work. It's funny because he kind of looked at me like I had three heads and was like if you feed it and take care of it, it won't matter. It's still a lot better than them living on the street never being sure where their next meal will come from. It made me feel better about adopting.

My mom bought me a book on puberty and handed it to me. That was the extent of anything even remotely related to that. I don't even think I read the book.

The public school system I grew up in had sex ed every year anyway, and occasional anti drug stuff.

I was always an isolated loner so I don't think any of that was ever a concern for my parents anyway.

Well it's funny because it will cost me, but I'm in an unusual position for me where it would be essentially heavily discounted lol. I can't see that happening anywhere again in the near future. So it was part of my reasoning for considering it. I have an incredibly high deductible plan which I never meet. Before my deductible, I pay 100% the cost of medical care. After my deductible, I pay 20%.

Gastric cancer is terrifying. With a family history, I hope you are able to continue to be monitored. Luckily there are other ways to monitor it beyond imaging. Like how colonoscopies are regular screenings for colon cancer, they can scope your stomach as a way to screen for gastric cancer.

I have a family history of esophageal cancer which is a bit scary to think about! I'll have to remember to get it monitored as I age. One of my uncles died of it and I'm not sure if the other will end up dying from his.

Yes but my insurance sucks and I somehow managed to meet my very high deductible this year. I can't see that happening again in the near future. So it's probably the cheapest I'd ever get an MRI lol...that part is part of the reason I'm considering doing it.

Insurance says it was approved so I would pay 20%. Normally when I haven't met my deductible (most years), I would be paying 100%. I am comfortable financially to pay for something at 20%.

Well essentially I had a bit of an odd biopsy result and one of the possibilities can be a strange hormone effect. I wanted a second opinion on the biopsy to make sure it was benign. I also recently had some blood hormone testing which doesn't seem to find anything too odd outside of the possibly of way earlier menopause than normal. The second opinion was benign which made me happy. But then the doctor suggested an MRI to have a better look at my adrenal glands (which are also producers of hormones) and ovaries. I think because she noticed that I have excess hair on my face and body. This can also be due to a hormonal effect, but this particular hormone wasn't tested and would not have effected the biopsy.

Haha yes I work in healthcare and we used the world "incidentaloma" when I was in school lolol.

Sometimes things diagnosed incidentally do save people's lives though. I had an uncle diagnosed with renal cancer indicidentally when they were imaging him for some other reason. He had the kidney removed and has been cancer free forever now...might have been more than a decade ago. In many cases, a random scan can save someone's life.

But the other hand causes things you describe, unnecessary stress and intervention for otherwise benign but odd things that people see. It's one of the big reasons why you don't generally just get an MRI just to get one.
