  • Speakers are machines and they give us great pleasure.

Plenty of people watch F1 and love the sounds of a V8 or V10 or whatever. So much so they can tell them apart.

Why do you feel the need to shit on what someone else likes because you don’t.

Sure if we shined a light on your life we might find that you too are a little inconsiderate at times.

This place is so fucking depressing. Just a load of sad little freaks mad at the world and giving off old man shouting at clouds vibes.

    Why not just retire yourself.

  • Where do you draw the line here?

Isn’t your house taking away places animals could live?

What about lights and how they mess with moths trying to fly towards the moon?

Another example of Lemmy moaning about every thing all the damn time.

  • They’re not Flying Squid. I asked them a while ago.

  • When I built a PC a couple of years ago when I really didn’t need one, then over specced it just because. I’m very happy right now as the prices are insane, feel like I could sell the PC for more than it cost me which mental.

  • Respect to the g’s keeping the old comments too.

  • I steal where I can from large corporations. I like to think of it as giving myself a discount.

  • I’ve just been looking into this and I’m not sure that’s the case.

It’s seems that this was light compared to others because of the poor design and execution. They cut corners to and used lighter materials which in turn leads to the things found under the CT scans making them more at risk of fire or breaking down over time. It doesn’t seem like they made a revolutionary battery more a cheap one.

  • Why are Haribo even doing this don’t they make sweets (candy)?

  • The first time shame on them, all other times shame on you. Unless you’re sad then have at it 😉

  • Locked

    I dunno

  • We called it BODMAS. Also, bigly is a great word.

  • I guess some things just stick for some people and not others.

I can recall the order of operations from school. Can’t remember peoples name though. I left school in 1999. For some reason I’ve never forgotten all the damn bones and muscles in the body either but I only did anatomy and physiology for a year and now I’m a software engineer. Minds are weird.

  • Great! Happy to have helped and good luck going forward.

  • Hey, I’m stoked that it helped you get up and running

Protip: don’t be like me. Make sure you backup your docker compose files. I once ran out of space and then wiped my file and had to make it again. Just copy it using cp command and add .bak to the end.

  • Diabolical.

  • Phones are water resistant and that goes down with pressured water.

Also, you take your phone in the shower. Too much for me that.

  • My phone is a YouTube player apparently. Teams and Outlook for work.

  • Sadly this place will lap up anything that agrees with their world view just like the right would, no seeking of truth.

You can’t have a discussion here that deviates from the popular view as you’ll be downvoted to shit for it. It has become an echo chamber where we all just stroke each others ego about how good we are and most people won’t engage with the other side as they believe they’re too far gone.

This has the added benefit of me spending less time on here and just being in the real world where people are open to change and new ideas.

  • Honestly I don’t have any resources really and I think it’s only possible with people you spend a lot of time with.

My method has been quite simple really and I’ll tend to ask questions, to which I know the answers but I know they won’t have any clue.

Example: Lots of anti asylum seeker rhetoric in my country right now. So the first thing I ask is how does one apply for asylum in the UK on boats.

Now I’ve never met anybody on the right able to answer this. So I’ll show them the government site which clearly states to apply for asylum you need to be in the UK.

Then I can frame this as well doesn’t it seem like a manufactured problem that we could solve by letting people make applications before they arrive here.

That’s just a quick example, but the gist has been really to be fucking relentless and not let anything slide without being challenged. After a while you’ll notice these people first come to you for an opinion, which id argue is thinking critically. Then you’ll see them thinking about things themselves rather than asking me.

Now I say be relentless, but you have to read the room and let things slide sometimes otherwise you’ll become insufferable and might hurt the cause, but I’ve found that once you can show some inconsistencies in the right wing rhetoric they’ll be more receptive to learning more and more.

  • If people are the same everywhere, then it would stand to reason that some of your political opponents have the ability to change their view, alas you have been saying that’s not the case.
