    It literally is what happened. Whether you assume she was driving at the agent to hurt them or that was the direction to get away. It’s factually true that the distance between the car and the dude was closing hence driving towards.

  • Interesting as the window is the main factor for me in the office. My desk is facing the window, not close to it but it’s there and bright.

    At home, when working from home, most the time, my desk is facing a wall with the window behind me and using closed curtains.

    So what I’m hearing is maybe I’m a little sensible to light and that’s why I leave with headaches? I used to hate driving at night too as all the other lights on cars and stuff are super bright and again I’d get headaches.

  • I don’t hate it but If I work in light mode or have phone in that mode then I will leave the office with a head ache.

    To me with dark mode anything I am reading is light. I am looking for light. In light mode everything is light and you’re looking for the absence of light and I can’t take it. It doesn’t hurt my eyes but it certainly makes me squint more often and then get a headache or worse a migraine.

    I also work with sunglasses in the office as the office itself is too bright.

    I’ve been using computers since the early 90’s and they were always dark mode first. Particularly in jobs with bright text on black.

    Total hours of work per week 33, standard in the UK is 37.5 but I have a good boss. I work Monday - Thursday 08:00-16:30 with an unpaid hours break. Friday 09:00-12:00. Tuesday and Thursday are office days, the rest are from home.

    Holidays (vacation) we start with 20 days per year increasing 1 day per year for a maximum of 25 days total.

    Sickness, unlimited within reason but even then it’s unlimited. I’m not happy a lot of the time and so I much have been off sick for 4-5 weeks this year in total and never once been pulled up about it, again my boss is good. Other jobs would typically put you on a development plan if had more than 3 instances of sickness, but even then they would work with you until you got better.

    Healthcare, we live in the Uk. It’s free at point of service as it’s factored into what we pay out of wages.

    Cost of living is quite high but I wouldn’t say worse than the USA. But everything is pretty much 33-50% more expensive than pre covid. Rent is insane.

    I should say that as a software engineer, two years in, that my salary is probably lower than many many companies but for me I like time more than I like money and their is literally never stress at work, it either gets done on time or it doesn’t. We all come first.

    I can’t believe how bad y’all have it over there. I’m hesitant to point out how much better my situation is in the UK as that would be cruel af. But if you’re curious I can highlight the differences between the USA and UK as we have it so much better than this.

  • To be abundantly clear, I think you’re lying or exaggerating as I’ve never heard of such a case, even searching online yields no results for such a thing and even using an LLM confirms it’s nonsense.

    By your logic anybody at an F1 race is leaving with hearing loss. Even taking the loudest exhausts at 100+ decibels it’s the same as power tools, concerts, and motorbikes.

    Perhaps your ears are just weaker than most people’s and it really is an issue for you. 🤷. Going to bed now, hope I don’t wake up.

  • Honestly, I find this incredibly hard to believe. I have been in Manchester City centre Jenson Button was literally driving an F1 car through the built up streets, tens of thousands of people there with no hearing protection listening to a roar order of magnitude louder than after market kit on a regular car.

    Even searching online it seems to get hearing loss or effects from an exhaust you would have to exposed to 85+ decibels for a prolonged period of time. Which doesn’t fit with someone driving past you. Also, my boss has cycled to work for a decade and never had this issue and we have lots of loud cars as I work in a posh area with lots of sports cars.

  • What are you talking about causing hearing damage to people? Literally never heard such a case. Even after doing some searching you would have to be around 85+ Decibels for a prolonged period of time.

    Years ago we have Jenson Button literally driving a F1 car through the streets of Manchester. The sound was like nothing I’ve ever heard and tens of thousands of people where there to enjoy it and I don’t know of a case of hearing damage. So it’s preposterous to claim someone driving past you with a loud exhausts is going to damage your ears. If that’s the case you best stay at home as there are plenty of other loud noises around.

    They’re not banned in the Uk and they would be if they caused issues. They’re the same as motorbikes.

    I can tell you this, I’ve been on this earth for 42 years and been around a lot of people and I have never ever met anybody IRL that mains about loud exhausts.

    You’re going off on me like I have one, I have a stock Mercedes A200d 2020, very quiet. I’m just sticking up for the other dude who wants to enjoy things they like. You sound like my grandma.
