I heard it explained like this. If one person says it's raining outside, and another person says it's not. The job of the reporter is to look outside to see if it's raining or not. Their job is not putting them in the same room asking them to debate each other about whether or not it's raining.
Yeah, I can see that. I sometimes think people don't have a sufficient imagination when it comes to what the cost could be, or they don't think some of the horrible stuff could be possible. So I was giving some push back.
I think we need to think about these things because I think we are rapidly heading to a darker place.
I don't think we can rely on there being a large amount of people like you to take all the hits. I think we need to find a way to share the work amongst everyone to get to a better place. So I think having the expectation that everyone works against their most deeply held interests like family is one that will make us weaker as a whole.
