  • I don't. When I say social change I'm more talking about like social thinking that individuals are the problem. Sorry if that was not clear.

  • Yeah, it's different. I think the machine on the left is an infinite energy machine. Those will never work.

The machine on the right is a carbon capture machine which does work. But not well enough. Are fast enough to solve any of the problems that we have.

I'm fine with playing around with a carbon capture machine and seeing if we can improve it, but I would never want to rely solely on it.

I want to try a thousand solutions to the global warming problem. Including societal and government changes. Cuz you know otherwise we all die.

  • The way I think of it is as follows: if you like the idea of socialism or communism, and you think the only way to get there is to have an authoritative leader "clean house" before they for some reason or another decide to give the power back to the people, then you are a tankie.

In my opinion, an authoritative leader will never give up power back to the people willingly. Or if an authoritative gets in charge, it will never dismantle systems like capitalism because capitalists give authoritative people power.

Another good hint is if they really like the idea of murdering billionaires even if there are less violent solutions to it. I'm not saying that there are currently less violent solutions. I'm just saying they will never go out of their way for less violent solutions. As if they like the idea of murder a lot.

  • Because they share the same incentives as the Republicans. Can't help out the average Joe too much otherwise the billionaired will get mad.

Dems are there to make us think we have a choice.

  • A person can't inform others faster than the speed of light.

  • Teacher: I meant the global we. So it would average out to 8 minutes.

  • It does have a definition though and there is still power in that.

  • Yes, then they shouldn't say it is "safe" because it isn't. They should say "more safe", or be more specific.

  • I mostly agree with your post. I take exception to the barely works part. Either the code works or it doesn't. If it doesn't work, fix it. If it works, don't fix it.

If you "fix" working code, you are spending time adding no value to the project. You could even argue you're adding negative value because the people who are used to the code working the way it was now have a surprise.

  • I mean you can exist in this world if you want to. It is more fun than the truth which is sad and boring.

Most people really do care and have good intentions, but are too overworked and too uneducated to pull apart the propaganda that's being pushed to them 24/7.

The oligarchs didn't win when Trump got elected the second time. The won when they got control over the media. That was a while back.

  • Say that in Texas.

  • I think Trump is going to try to work out a deal where TickTok gets to stay the way it is if the company publicly blames Democrats for all the noise.

  • I broke my pinky toe because of bed sheets hanging off the bed in a specific way while I walked by.

To this day it is the only broken bone I've ever had.

I don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed.

  • One of the weirder of votes I've done. Technically correct but.... Gahh staying alive is a primary goal.

  • I mean it's probably not true... But for me it is spiritually true.

  • Yeah, the only outcome I can see from this is everyone is given a choice to stay and shut up or leave if they disagree with the new direction. Most will chose, the people who stay behind to cause trouble will be removed shortly after and then business will return to normal.

  • So your problem is they are not consistent when it comes to state support, not that they are having a lot of kids?

  • Not necessarily. Don't judge a person by their parents crimes.
