  • Yeah, that’s fair

  • It is broad, yeah. And I can’t speak for everyone, but speaking from my own experience, I certainly resent that my parents made that decision for me. Especially given that there’s no medical reason for it, I don’t see any reason why someone should violate someone else’s bodily autonomy like that.

Edit: also, not a boy :)

  • If you want your child to resent you for mutilating them with unnecessary surgery without their consent, go for it. If you want to be a good parent, don’t.

  • I find it valuable and worth supporting, so I donate a dollar a month. It’s not much, but I want to contribute (monetarily, in addition to editing)

  • I noticed an initial bump in LLM-generated text when ChatGPT first came out, but I think Wikipedia is starting to get a better handle on counteracting it. Better than a lot of other places on the internet, that’s for sure

  • It would bar federal funding from going to any hospital or medical facility that provides gender-affirming care, including HRT. Like a Hyde Amendment for trans healthcare. Basically, no medical facility that wants to take Medicaid or Medicare would be able to provide gender-affirming care. Oh, you’ve got an entire hospital? That’s nice, but you have a single endo who prescribes HRT, so no funding at all for you.

  • For real! Moving is so hard. Because you need to find somewhere to live, somewhere to work, and how to move all your possessions, usually with a very small window of time, as you need to keep bringing money in to stay afloat. Not to mention the sheer cost of moving - overlapping rent/mortgage payments, renting a truck, etc. And then there is all the logistical hassle - starting and stopping utilities, updating ID, changing addresses for important accounts.

And all that is just within the country. Leaving entirely, especially to live and work somewhere else, is even more difficult than all of that! Not to mention, then you’re likely leaving behind all social connections you have, and you may need to learn a new language.

People who go “if you hate it so much, or you don’t feel safe, just leave” have no idea what they’re talking about

  • We’re so fucked. I hate this country so much. I wish I could leave.

  • Thank you, I appreciate it! We’re going to need all the luck we can get…

I hope that other countries can look at what’s happening here now and learn what not to do, rather than follow in our footsteps

  • Jesus fuck, not everything is a distraction from Epstein. There is a lot of other bad shit they’re doing simply because they’re fascists, no ulterior motive required.

  • Leaving is, unfortunately, a lot easier said than done. The easiest method is probably getting a foreign employer to sponsor a work visa, and that’s not an easy pathway. Other ways are harder.

Don’t get me wrong, I have an escape plan in mind if push comes to shove and Canada starts accepting asylum claims from trans and nonbinary people, but uprooting everything to change countries is prohibitively expensive for almost everyone.

  • Homeschooling, church, and PragerU is all you need! /s

  • You should check out the TESA Collective, they make some cool games. I really like their game Community Garden.

  • Yeah, that does suck. I do struggle a bit to fall asleep the first few nights without it, since I’m used to having a bowl before bed, but the thing that really gets me is how crazy vivid my dreams are when I’m taking a break. I’m prone to night terrors too, so it’s a bit of a roll of the dice on what those dreams are gonna be like

If they wanted to win, they should have tried not being poor

  • Yeah, I’m probably addicted to cannabis. That doesn’t particularly bother me, as it doesn’t negatively impact my life. I keep it to nights and weekends, and I don’t spend more on it than I can afford. I honestly have a much harder time quitting coffee than I do cannabis. If I go on vacation, I never have a problem leaving my weed at home, but I’ll be damned if I don’t have my caffeine. And that doesn’t seem to be a particularly harmful addiction either.

  • It’s funny, because they clearly have the idea in their head that Wikipedia is a single organization capable of an ideological bias. When if you take a single look at some talk pages, it would become clear very quickly that Wikipedia is built on people vociferously disagreeing and bringing sources to make the information presented ever more credible and unbiased.

  • No problem!

  • Eh, not so much. The special election is in May, but this ballot proposal won’t be voted on until the general election in November.

Also, this proposal automatically comes up every 16 years, and it’s been voted down the past three times it’s come up.

  • It is! I just messed up the link.

Sounds pretty neat, thanks for sharing :)
