  • “I am a good person.”

My Catholic upbringing really ingrained in me the idea that I’m a fundamentally bad person. Turns out, even if you deconvert, those thought patterns will still plague you. So I have to remind myself often that just because I’m not Catholic or who my parents would like me to be, that doesn’t mean I’m doing anything wrong.

  • How do I short Nvidia so I can cash in on the bubble’s inevitable burst?

  • What an odd thing to say.

  • Ooh, salt is a good one!

  • Thanks, I’ll do my best! o7

  • Yeah, I buy CDs or vinyl quite often. I’ve got a few cassette tapes kicking around too. Bandcamp is also a good option to genuinely purchase the digital files

  • Sometimes I like to purchase music, for artists that I’m a big fan of and want to financially support.

  • I am very happy with my recent switch from Spotify to TIDAL

  • I’d sure like us to stop it one way or the other. I’m less concerned with exactly how we get there, as long as I don’t end up publicly executed.

  • The man in charge of the largest military in the world (who is currently testing the limits of his ability to deploy the military for domestic law enforcement) thinks I should be publicly executed for being a gender traitor. How fun and cool.

  • Well, for me personally, since I’m an anarchist, I’d rather have neither. Power corrupts, and giving too much unchecked power to any individual will lead to harm. Even FDR, one of America’s “best” presidents, also oversaw redlining and the Japanese internment camps.

  • The ‘if’ in ‘if the SAVE Act goes through’ is doing a lot of work. The recent bill that was passed was only able to be done through budget reconciliation, because you only need 50 votes plus the VP to break the tie. But for bills outside of budget reconciliation, you need 60 votes to end the filibuster. Barring anything unforeseen (recognizing that breaking norms is the norm for this administration), there’s no way I could see it getting through the Senate.

  • Cool. Elections are administered by the states though, and my state guarantees mail-in ballots in the constitution. Sooooo, good luck with that, I suppose?

  • Yeah, I agree that the left and liberals are broadly opposed to AI, and the right dove in headfirst. I just don’t get how lacking the ability to spew shitty cat videos and deepfakes means we on the left are hampering our own progress.

  • Falling behind in what way? Financial advantage? I’m not sure that the left have ever had that. How would adopting AI aid the left’s cause?

  • I mean, you can say that, but without a clear line of argument explaining why that’s the case, I remain unconvinced.

  • But it’s the exact same comment on so many posts. It doesn’t need to be a bot or AI doing the posting for it to be spam.

I understand you feel it’s relevant and important, but what you are doing is pretty much the definition of spamming.

  • Can you explain in what way it is not spam?
